Senior Data Scientist / Analytics Engineer

I am hiring a Senior Data Scientist / Analytics Engineer for the data and AI division of a 400+ employee fintech group in Japan.
The business is an established player in Japan’s alternative data market, supporting major financial institutions, real estate developers, consumer brands, and public-sector organizations. It develops commercial data products using payment, POS, location, corporate, labor-market, and consumer behavior data.
This role combines data science, analytics engineering, and product development. You will turn analytical insights into scalable products and measurable business outcomes.

What you will do
• Analyze consumer, financial, retail, and location data
• Build forecasting, market analysis, and decision-support solutions
• Develop data marts, analytical pipelines, and backend features
• Turn analysis into SaaS product functionality
• Lead projects from problem definition to implementation
• Work with enterprise clients, government agencies, and municipalities
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers

What we are looking for
• Experience in data analytics or data science
• Strong Python skills for structured data analysis and machine learning
• Experience identifying business problems and proposing solutions
• Experience leading client-facing analytics projects
• Business-level Japanese for client communication
