Job Description
About the job
ABOUT NOVARA Novara is an early-stage, AI-native company building systems to improve how people and organizations discover major future opportunities, strengthen judgment and turn strong decisions into real-world creation.
The opportunity
Novara is seeking an AI Full-Stack & Agent Engineer who can turn product ideas into reliable working software. You will build across the application stack, create and integrate AI-agent workflows, connect models and data interfaces, and help the team run fast, disciplined experiments.
This is a delivery role, not an architecture-only position. The right engineer is product-minded, comfortable moving across frontend, backend and AI infrastructure, and able to choose simple, testable implementations in a fast-changing early-stage environment.
What you will own
·     Build and ship end-to-end product features across frontend, backend, APIs and data interfaces.
·     Develop agent workflows that are observable, testable and bounded by clear human decision points.
·     Integrate external APIs, model providers and internal services with reliable error handling, security and cost awareness.
·     Create automated workflows that reduce manual operations and improve the speed of product learning.
·     Support multi-model invocation, evaluation and fallback patterns without coupling the product to a single provider.
·     Prototype rapidly, test with real users and convert validated experiments into maintainable production code.
·     Work closely with product, judgment, operations and governance owners to preserve provenance, permissions and clear system boundaries.
·     Improve engineering quality through tests, instrumentation, documentation, code review and pragmatic deployment practices.
What success looks like

·     Useful product increments shipped quickly and evaluated against explicit user and system outcomes.
·     Agent and model integrations that can be inspected, tested and improved rather than operating as opaque demos.
·     Reliable APIs and data flows with clear failure behavior, monitoring and ownership.
·     A faster experiment-to-learning loop without accumulating avoidable architecture or security debt.
What we are looking for
·     Strong hands-on software engineering experience across a modern web stack, with evidence of products you personally shipped.
·     Experience building with large language models, agent frameworks, retrieval or tool-calling systems in real applications.
·     Solid API design, data modeling, testing, debugging and production reliability skills.
·     Ability to work across frontend and backend and to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
·     Product judgment: you can identify the critical path, cut unnecessary scope and validate assumptions with working software.
·     Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration and direct collaboration in a small distributed team.
·     Clear thinking about privacy, permissions, provenance, model limitations and human accountability.
Strong pluses
·     Experience with Python, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, containerized deployments or cloud infrastructure.
·     Experience with multi-model routing, evaluation, observability, workflow automation or human-in-the-loop systems.
·     Early-stage startup experience and a public portfolio, GitHub profile or shipped product examples.

How we work
·     Founding-stage ownership: you will build the system, not inherit a finished playbook.
·     High standards with low bureaucracy: decisions, owners, evidence and outcomes should be visible.
·     AI as leverage: agents can accelerate research, drafting, coordination and analysis, but named humans remain accountable for consequential judgment.
·     Global collaboration: the team works across functions, locations and time zones.
·     Long-term orientation: we care about durable capability and real-world results, not activity or hype.
