Key Responsibilities
Research, prototype, and evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal AI techniques for industrial applications
Develop proof-of-concept solutions for image classification, object detection, segmentation, anomaly detection, and 3D vision challenges
Build and maintain reproducible machine learning pipelines covering data acquisition, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring
Collaborate with software engineers, embedded engineers, academic researchers, and industrial R&D teams to deliver production-ready AI solutions
Translate complex industrial problems into scalable AI models, datasets, and technical demonstrators
Contribute to technology transfer by documenting solutions and supporting deployment into real-world manufacturing environments

Bressanone, Italy - Hybrid (1 day remote per week)


We are seeking a Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer to join our client; an innovative applied AI research organisation developing next-generation computer vision, deep learning, and industrial AI solutions for leading international manufacturing and technology companies. This Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer opportunity offers the chance to transform cutting-edge research into real-world industrial applications.


As a Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer, you'll collaborate with researchers and engineers on advanced AI technologies, while providing opportunities for technical growth, innovation, and international collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research, prototype, and evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal AI techniques for industrial applications.
  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions for image classification, object detection, segmentation, anomaly detection, and 3D vision challenges.
  • Build and maintain reproducible machine learning pipelines covering data acquisition, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, embedded engineers, academic researchers, and industrial R&D teams to deliver production-ready AI solutions.
  • Translate complex industrial problems into scalable AI models, datasets, and technical demonstrators.
  • Contribute to technology transfer by documenting solutions and supporting deployment into real-world manufacturing environments.


Required Experience & Skills

  • MSc with 3+ years' relevant commercial experience, or a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial or applied research experience in Computer Vision and Deep Learning.
  • Excellent Python and PyTorch development skills.
  • Experience with OpenCV and modern deep learning architectures including CNNs and Vision Transformers.
  • Experience developing models for one or more of: Object Detection
  • Object Detection, Image Segmentation, Image Classification, Anomaly Detection, Image Retrieval, 3D Vision, Multimodal AI
  • Experience designing experiments, benchmarking models, and evaluating performance.
  • Strong understanding of dataset creation, annotation, data quality, and model robustness.
  • Experience working within Linux environments using Git and GPU-based training.
  • Strong written and spoken Italian & English.


Desirable

  • Experience with Hugging Face, Open3D, or PyTorch Lightning.
  • Experience with Vision-Language Models or Foundation Models.
  • Knowledge of synthetic data generation, self-supervised learning, or active learning.
  • C++ development experience.
  • MLOps, edge AI, or embedded deployment experience.
  • Scientific publications or experience reproducing academic research.
