Senior Applied AI Engineer | Incubator for AI (i.AI)

At i.AI, we're building AI products inside the UK Government that are transforming public services across health, education, planning and beyond.


We're looking for Senior Applied AI Engineers to help take cutting-edge AI from experimentation to production. You'll work in small, high-performing teams, building and deploying AI systems that solve real problems at national scale.


This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy moving quickly from idea to implementation, combining strong software engineering skills with deep curiosity about the latest advances in AI. You'll help design evaluations, build production-grade AI systems, explore new modelling approaches, and work closely with product, design and policy experts to turn complex challenges into impactful products.


Our stack: Python, TypeScript, AWS, Azure, GCP, PyTorch, LangGraph, LangChain, DSPy, Langfuse, Inspect and access to the latest frontier models.

Salary: £105,000 - £115,000 (Base £58,040 + Technical Allowance £46,960- £56,960) plus a 28.97% employer pension contribution.


📍 London, Manchester or Bristol (Hybrid)

📄 Fixed-term contract (24 months)
