Freelance Digital Designer

This is a remote, 100% freelance position — not a full-time role.  It's a great fit for designers looking for additional or supplemental income alongside their existing work or commitments. There may be an opportunity this role to be converted to full-time in the future.

Peanut Technologies is searching for a Freelance Digital Designer to help with the website segment of our business, where we create visual assets for restaurant websites. This designer would take on design projects and manage the pipeline of the project from customer discovery to project delivery.

Peanut Technologies (peanuttab.com) provides IT, digital and creative services to restaurants and hospitality groups. Through our partnerships with technology vendors, we serve 100+ restaurants annually.

This role does not require any knowledge and expertise in coding/ front-end web dev, as we do not utilize any coding in any of our design processes. We however, welcome candidates with any helpful front-end background to apply.

Job Responsibilities

Design and Implementation

1. Building out the web pages using a custom drag-and-drop website builder developed by one of our affiliates (no coding required).
2. Utilizing Canva and other design tools to create custom elements for some of the client's webpages.
3. Strategizing content structure on restaurant websites.
4. Working with our in-house artist to select the color schematics, fonts, etc. needed for client websites.

Client Research & Discovery

1. Researching the restaurant brands online (social media, existing websites, Google customer photos, etc), to understand their vibe and style to better represent them online
2. Researching competitors and similar neighboring restaurants to our clients to understand their place in the market better and how to make them competitive online

Project Management & Trainings

1. Regularly updating project pipelines to keep the status of projects up to date
2. Participating in training programs to gain more in-depth knowledge on the suite of technologies developed by our affiliate

Requirements

Preferred Skills/ Ideal Candidate

Importance: High

1. Access to a serene workspace without too much background noise
2. Access to a stable power source.
3. Reliable internet connection with a minimum download speed of 15 mbps.
4. Great attention to detail.
5. Someone with a high visual IQ. This is key, when designing for the kinds of restaurants we work with.  We need someone who understands the difference between a shade of green that aligns with a restaurant brand, and another shade that doesn't.

Importance: Medium

1. 1-5 years of experience in web design/ UI-UX/ graphic design/ photography/ social media, any creative or visual arts-related role.
2. Portfolio of work that displays great use of imagery, color, typography, and iconography
3. Ability to balance different projects

Compensation & Hours

We offer very competitive rates per project, and the hours are entirely flexible—you determine when you want to work, as long as you meet the agreed-upon deadline.

Successful candidates will participate in a paid (N250,000) training programme designed to familiarize them with our processes and standards before assuming the role.

Key details

Location: Our company is 100% remote. You can be based anywhere in Nigeria. Most of our team and freelancers are located in Lagos, and Abuja, so we tend to have a preference for those cities.
