Senior AI Engineer | Tokyo, Japan | ¥8m–¥15m
Global Engineering Talent is supporting a major international technology business as it expands its AI engineering capability in Tokyo.
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer who can take AI solutions beyond the prototype stage, helping to shape requirements, design solutions and lead delivery into production.
The role
- Design and deliver production Generative AI, LLM and machine-learning solutions
- Build RAG, fine-tuning and agentic AI applications
- Translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions
- Lead projects from initial design through development, deployment and support
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other AI engineers
- Work with cloud and MLOps teams to deploy scalable, secure AI systems
- Present solutions and technical recommendations to clients and stakeholders
- Use AI tools to improve delivery efficiency, documentation and solution quality

What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience in AI, machine learning or software engineering
- Advanced Python development skills
- Production experience with LLMs, RAG, Generative AI or multi-agent systems
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
- Understanding of Docker, CI/CD and production model deployment
- Experience leading engineers or taking technical ownership of AI projects
- Confidence gathering requirements and communicating with customers
- Business-level Japanese, ideally JLPT N2 or equivalent
- Professional English communication
