Job Description

We are partnering with an enterprise client to design, build, and scale their internal developer platform (IDP) and cloud-native infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to represent our organisation and take technical ownership of developer enablement, cloud infrastructure automation, and platform reliability.

In this role, you will bridge software engineering and systems operations within our client’s environment. You will treat the platform as a product, creating self-service developer tooling, standardising deployment pipelines, and ensuring scalable, secure infrastructure across multi-cloud and Kubernetes environments.

🌏 Visa & Sponsorship Options

As the employer of record, we provide full visa and migration support for qualified engineering talent deployed to our clients:

  • 482 On-Hire Sponsorship Transfers: Fully supported for qualified candidates currently in Australia on an existing 482 visa looking to transfer sponsorship to work with our clients.
  • New 482 Visa Sponsorship: Available for qualified candidates meeting the commercial experience and technical requirements.
  • Temporary & Working Visa Holders: Open to all working visa holders seeking a direct pathway to employer sponsorship.
Core Responsibilities
  • Internal Developer Platform (IDP): Build and maintain self-service developer platforms, APIs, and tooling to reduce cognitive load and accelerate deployment velocity for engineering teams.
  • Cloud & Container Orchestration: Architect, maintain, and scale production-grade Kubernetes clusters (EKS/AKS/GKE) and cloud-native services across AWS/Azure.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and enforce automated, modular IaC modules using Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi.
  • CI/CD & GitOps: Implement enterprise-grade continuous delivery and GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD, Flux, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Observability & Reliability: Build robust observability standards across the platform (metrics, logs, traces) using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with client software engineering leads to understand developer friction and deliver scalable platform features.
Selection Criteria
  • Platform & DevOps Mastery: Proven commercial experience designing and maintaining automated developer platforms and cloud infrastructure.
  • Containerisation & Kubernetes: Deep hands-on experience deploying and managing production Kubernetes workloads and service meshes.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Advanced proficiency in modular Terraform or cloud orchestration tools.
  • Software/Scripting Fundamentals: Strong scripting or programming capabilities in Go, Python, or Bash for platform automation and tooling.
  • Location Requirements: Currently residing in Australia with valid work rights or eligibility for 482 visa sponsorship/transfer.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux) and service mesh architectures (Istio, Linkerd).
  • Practical experience implementing platform developer portals (e.g., Backstage).
  • AWS / Azure / CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certifications.
