Job Description

πŸ“ Location: UAE, relocation support provided.

About the Client

We are sourcing on behalf of a specialist organization based in UAE . This role offers the opportunity to work in a well-resourced setting focused on delivering high-quality, mission-critical outcomes. The position includes a competitive, tax-free compensation package, comprehensive healthcare, and full relocation support where applicable.

Position summary

This senior, lab-focused role performs security assessments of electronic devices and embedded platforms (including products with IT connectivity). The job is centered on finding and validating hardware and firmware weaknesses and translating technical evidence into clear, risk-informed conclusions. Side-Channel Analysis (SCA) and Fault Injection (FI) are the core skills for this position and will be used frequently, alongside other device-level attack and evaluation techniques.

Main responsibilities

  • Carry out hands-on security testing with a strong emphasis on Side-Channel Analysis (SCA) and Fault Injection (FI), from setup through execution and validation.
  • Build and execute hardware security test plans that align with internal processes, stakeholder expectations, and applicable requirements.
  • Inspect device designs and implementations to identify exposure points, including architecture, components, interfaces, firmware, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Assess debug and service interfaces, evaluate attack surfaces, and perform cryptographic implementation checks where relevant.
  • Evaluate the realism and impact of attack paths, and determine whether existing hardware and firmware controls effectively reduce risk.
  • Analyze and interpret lab artifacts such as measurements, signal traces, captures, logs, datasets, and other technical evidence produced during testing.
  • Produce technical reports that clearly describe the approach, setup, evidence, observed weaknesses, and practical remediation recommendations.
  • Brief internal teams and, as needed, external stakeholders on results and technical conclusions.
  • Maintain controlled, repeatable workflows with traceable evidence handling and well-kept records.
  • Maintain lab equipment, including configuration tracking and calibration-related documentation.
  • Follow required procedures, safety practices, and quality expectations, including alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 principles where applicable.
  • Support audits, technical reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide technical leadership when required, including supporting other engineers and helping resolve complex test issues.
  • Coach junior engineers and help build internal capability through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
  • Coordinate with the people lead to plan work, manage priorities, and support timely delivery.
  • Improve internal methods, procedures, and training materials to strengthen overall hardware security testing maturity.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in areas such as security evaluation, penetration testing, embedded/firmware security, hardware security assessment, or secure product development.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Side-Channel Analysis (SCA) and Fault Injection (FI), demonstrated through practical testing work (minimum 2+ years).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (for example: computer engineering, electronics engineering, computer science, information security, or similar).
  • Ability to apply vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodology to hardware and embedded targets.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, firmware security, common hardware interfaces, and typical hardware attack surfaces.
  • Familiarity with security standards/evaluation practices and risk assessment concepts used to support impact-based conclusions.
  • Awareness of ISO/IEC 17025 concepts and general lab quality principles (traceability, controlled records, repeatability).
  • Preferred: CEH, OSCP, hardware-security certifications, SCA/FI training, or equivalent practical experience.
