Job Description


For our European Headquarters in Frankfurt am Main area (Offenbach) we are looking for an IT professional as:


Linux/Unix Systems Engineer (m/f/d)


As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of the Global Infrastructure Services Section, supporting multiple clients. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, development, and implementation of new technologies across a large-scale systems environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, analysts, and cross-functional teams to design integrated and effective infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of systems and infrastructure through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Manage Linux/Unix systems, including installation, configuration, upgrades, user administration, security, backup, and recovery.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools, security measures, and redundancy strategies to ensure operational continuity.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues in multi-layered environments.
  • Maintain capacity planning, space utilization analysis, and future resource forecasting.
  • Drive infrastructure changes and improvements aimed at enhancing system performance.
  • Coordinate with business applications teams, external vendors, consultants, and IT teams across subsidiaries and divisions.
  • Define and support system-level requirements, architecture decisions, and adherence to IT governance standards.
  • Support GDPR compliance and system-related audits.
  • Execute ITIL service delivery processes, including incident, problem, change, configuration, and release management.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of offshore/outsourced operations teams to ensure SLA compliance.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, storage environments, network protocols, and file systems (e.g., LVM, VXVM).
  • Experience with various infrastructure technologies, including:
  • Operating systems: RedHat, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, AIX, Solaris
  • Server virtualization and on-premise infrastructure
  • Automation tools and frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with high-availability solutions, including Veritas Cluster, disaster recovery concepts, and load balancers.
  • Practical experience with server configuration and automation tools, such as Ansible and Bash/Shell scripting (preferred).
  • Experience with backup technologies such as NetBackup or Veeam (certifications are a plus).
  • Hardware-level troubleshooting and administration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while learning new tools and technologies.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and social skills.
  • Very good written and spoken English.

  • Support Knowledge with different Cloud services providers.
  • Familiarity with AD, DNS, PowerShell, Firewalls, FTP, SMTP, DHCP, and other products.
