Job Description

Senior Python Developer

Locations: Poland, Georgia, Serbia, Spain

Work model: Remote / Hybrid

The Role

FinDev is looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join a team building and modernizing a suite of quantitative and analytical platforms for the capital markets industry.

The environment includes around 25–30 applications used for portfolio construction and optimization, retirement solutions, capital market forecasting, risk analytics, and institutional client analytics.

This is primarily a backend engineering role, but there is a strong quantitative side to the work. You’ll build APIs and data pipelines, work with multiple data stores, improve existing systems, and help bring mathematical and analytical models into production.

Some of these models involve Monte Carlo simulations, factor risk frameworks, portfolio optimization, and capital market forecasting, so you don’t need to be a quant, but you should be comfortable with mathematics and interested in understanding the logic behind the systems you build.

The stack includes Python, FastAPI/Django/Tornado, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, S3, and AWS.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build production-grade REST APIs in Python
  • Develop backend services and data pipelines for analytical workloads
  • Implement and integrate quantitative and mathematical models into production systems
  • Work with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, S3, and other data sources
  • Design and optimize data models and database schemas
  • Work with and gradually modernize an existing ecosystem of applications
  • Make system design decisions around scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Collaborate directly with quantitative specialists, engineers, and business stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot and improve production systems
  • Use modern AI-assisted development tools as part of the engineering workflow

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of backend development experience
  • Strong commercial experience with Python
  • Experience building production REST APIs
  • Strong database experience and understanding of data modeling
  • Experience with data-intensive backend systems or data pipelines
  • Good understanding of backend architecture and system design
  • Ability to work effectively with complex existing codebases
  • Interest in mathematics, analytics, and quantitative problems
  • Good spoken and written English

Nice to Have

  • FastAPI, Django, or Tornado
  • PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, and S3
  • NumPy or Pandas
  • AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Distributed or asynchronous systems
  • Datadog, Komodor, or similar observability tools
  • Experience with financial or analytical systems
  • Capital markets or quantitative finance knowledge

Benefits

  • Flexible remote or hybrid work
  • 24 days of paid vacation
  • 10 paid sick days
  • Health insurance coverage in Poland
  • 50% health insurance coverage for spouses and children in Poland
  • 50% reimbursement for professional training, education, and conferences
  • Long-term international projects and experienced engineering teams

For relocation to Poland: flight tickets for the employee and immediate family, first-month accommodation, visa sponsorship, and support with residence permits.
