IP Network Engineering Manager

The Manager, Network Engineering leads a team of 3 Network Engineers overseeing IP core network engineering and wireline optical transport. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for managing system upgrades, capacity planning, budgets, and network design while guiding team growth.


Responsibilities

  • Directly manage, coach, and hire a team of 3 Network Engineers, supporting performance reviews and professional growth
  • Direct engineering projects, system upgrades, lab testing, and change management workflows
  • Assist in designing IP and optical network updates and oversee weekly network capacity tracking
  • Develop departmental budgets, perform cost-benefit analyses, and make strategic technology recommendations
  • Serve as the first line of escalation for network engineering on-call issues and incident management



Required Skills

  • Proven track record of managing teams, performance reviews
  • Expertise in BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, and interior protocols such as IS-IS and OSPF
  • Operational knowledge of carrier-grade platforms including Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, and Ciena
  • Advanced knowledge of ROADM, DWDM, coherent optics, and wavelength services
  • Experience handling budgets, and delivering complex carrier initiatives
