Operating across multiple healthcare specialties, Doctolib provides a comprehensive platform that supports web and mobile interfaces, facilitating seamless interactions between healthcare professionals and patients. The company's commitment to leveraging advanced AI and machine learning technologies aims to enhance clinical outcomes, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. With a strong focus on ethical AI deployment and user-centric design, Doctolib strives to transform healthcare delivery and make quality care accessible to all.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our Data Science & AI organization at Doctolib. This pivotal role operates across all AI teams—Clinical, Productivity, Phone Assistant, and Automatic Speech Recognition—serving as a transversal force multiplier. Unlike traditional roles confined to a single feature team, this position entails ownership of cross-cutting technical challenges, including defining how our product and AI teams develop agentic solutions, standardizing ML evaluation frameworks, and propagating best engineering practices across the organization. The successful candidate will unblock teams, influence architecture decisions, and undertake deep technical work requiring senior ML judgment at scale, directly impacting the daily lives of 400,000 healthcare professionals and 80 million patients. Building at Doctolib means delivering innovative products that measurably improve healthcare outcomes for care teams and patients alike.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, with at least 3 years in a Senior or Principal role leading complex, multi-team initiatives
- Deep expertise in at least two of the following areas: clinical NLP, large language model (LLM) fine-tuning and evaluation, automatic speech recognition, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, or reinforcement learning
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/Transformers for training, and vLLM for inference, with a proven track record of deploying ML systems in production environments (AWS/GCP)
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent research experience
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders and explaining complex technical decisions clearly
- Experience with healthcare data, clinical applications, and familiarity with EU healthcare regulations (GDPR, MDR, AI Act) is highly desirable
