About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Technical Lead Manager (TLM) to oversee the Trajectory Generation team within our Embodied AI organization. This remote/hybrid role is based in Sunnyvale, California, with potential reporting requirements for candidates living within a 50-mile radius of key GM locations such as Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View. As a critical leader in autonomous driving technology, you will be responsible for defining and executing the technical vision for trajectory generation systems that enable safe, smooth, and human-like vehicle behaviors. Your leadership will influence the development of machine learning models and algorithms that translate sensor data into precise motion plans, supporting complex driving scenarios such as lane changes, obstacle avoidance, and interactions with other road users. You will lead a team of talented engineers, drive cross-functional initiatives, and ensure the seamless integration of these systems into real-world, safety-critical environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact the future of autonomous vehicles and mobility solutions at a global scale.
Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Proven experience leading technical teams delivering production-grade machine learning systems
- Deep expertise in robotics planning and control, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, generative models, or large-scale ML systems
- Strong software engineering skills in Python, C++, or similar languages
- Experience deploying ML models into real-world or safety-critical environments
- Ability to define system architecture and lead large, cross-functional technical initiatives
- Excellent mentoring and leadership skills, with a focus on developing technical talent
- Strong understanding of autonomous driving, robotics, or embodied AI systems (preferred)
- Background in trajectory planning, motion control, or behavior modeling (preferred)
- Experience with large-scale training infrastructure, distributed ML pipelines, and simulation-based training or evaluation (preferred)

- Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for trajectory generation systems used in autonomous driving
