Job Description

Job Title: Network Specialist

Location: Fully Remote

Salary: Up to £75,000 (dependent on experience)


Nigel Frank is recruiting on behalf of a client seeking a skilled and proactive Network Specialist to join their team. This fully remote role offers an exciting opportunity to manage, optimise, and enhance the network infrastructure of a growing organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in integrating new sites, implementing critical network services, and ensuring the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security across the network.


Key Responsibilities:


Network Administration:

  • Oversee and maintain network switches (Aruba/HP and Cisco) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage and optimise wireless network solutions, including Unifi and Cisco access points.
  • Administer SonicWall firewall configurations, maintaining robust security measures.
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance issues to ensure seamless service delivery.

Infrastructure Integration:

  • Lead the integration of new sites into the existing network infrastructure.
  • Design and implement critical network services such as DNS and DHCP.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and consistent network operation across all locations.

Cloud Network Support:

  • Support and optimise network connectivity for cloud-hosted services, particularly those in Azure.
  • Assist with planning and executing cloud integration projects to ensure network performance is not impacted.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on network management best practices and tools.


Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in managing and configuring Aruba/HP and Cisco network switches.
  • Proficiency in managing Unifi and Cisco wireless solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of SonicWall firewall management and security protocols.
  • Expertise in core network services including DNS, DHCP, and other essential functions.
  • Solid experience with Azure networking and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proven track record of integrating multi-site networks efficiently.
  • Ability to conduct network audits, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Experience in deploying DHCP failover strategies to ensure service reliability and uptime.
  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to maintain detailed and organised records of network configurations.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or PRTG.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex networking issues.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and experience conducting network security audits.
  • Experience with VLAN segmentation, network access control, and policy creation for secure network design.
  • Familiarity with Azure network security, including NSG and VPN configuration.
