Job Description

Job Title: Linux Systems Administrator

Location: UK Remote

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum



Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and systems
  • Provide support and guidance for client environments, ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently
  • Manage server deployments, updates, and patches to ensure security and performance
  • Collaborate with other teams to design, implement, and maintain IT solutions for a wide range of clients
  • Work with cloud technologies, virtualisation, and containerisation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Participate in on-call rotation for out-of-hours support and incident response
  • Document system configurations and procedures to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.



Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in Linux server administration (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with server virtualisation and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience with web and application servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system administration
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team



Desirable:

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, ELK stack)
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, RHCE, or equivalent are a bonus
