Sybase Database Administrator - Managed Database Services

Accountable for the comprehensive management and governance of one or more complete Database Services, which includes Strategy, Design, Operations, Provisioning & Deployment, Transition & Change, Consumption, Support, Delivery Performance & Quality, Capacity & Continuity, as well as Issue & Risk Management.

YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide support for services across the organization.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with service operations.
• Understand the complete technical landscape of the service(s), including dependent components and infrastructure.
• Assist in identifying issues, incidents, and events that affect agreed service KPIs, SLAs, Service Health, and third-party service providers.
• Oversee the resolution of critical, high, medium, and low-priority problems.
• Offer technical support and guidance across service management processes, including incident, problem, change, configuration, capacity, continuity (DR), availability, asset management, monitoring, and alerting.
• Understand the required business outcomes for the service and translate these, with input from Business Engagement, into relevant Service Improvement Plans.
• Collaborate with Architects and Design Leads to ensure projects align with asset roadmaps and strategies.
• Work with third-party service providers, project services, and service management to ensure a smooth transition for all service changes.
• Leverage appropriate forums and networks to identify opportunities for utilizing asset portfolio capabilities.
• Facilitate effective communication, knowledge sharing, and issue resolution among delivery and support teams.
• Manage ongoing stakeholder relationships and expectations.
• Ensure that adequate capacity, risk, and security monitoring, as well as disaster recovery and business continuity plans, are established across the portfolio, with issues identified and addressed promptly.
• Implement and maintain appropriate data quality controls throughout the portfolio.
• Participate in on-call support duties, with compensation provided, as part of a team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3-4 years of experience in database technology and delivery, with a solid background in the practical application, design, and deployment of large-scale database infrastructures.
• 3-4 years of experience in designing, building, managing, and administering large-scale database environments (both physical and virtual).
• 3-4 years of experience with SYBASE software and databases (Sybase ASE 16, Replication V16, Sybase IQ 16).
• Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Proficient in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise database and application dependencies, as well as associated toolsets.
• Experience in database optimization and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of hardware, networks, software technologies, and applications.
• Relevant industry certifications.
• Excellent business communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to adapt and deliver business outcomes effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders and third parties to achieve successful results in time-sensitive environments.
• Knowledgeable about industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Tertiary qualification in a technology discipline or a related field.
