Job Description
Swift Developer (Full-Time) โ Join Our Mission at Blinklab
Blinklab is a healthtech startup on a mission to revolutionize developmental diagnostics through neuroscience and technology. Our flagship product is a smartphone-based autism diagnostic app that uses neuroscience and machine learning to screen children. By empowering families and clinicians with easy at-home tools, we help children get support sooner and improve lives. Founded in 2021 by neuroscientists at Princeton University, Blinklab has grown into a public company with a small, passionate R&D team based in Delft, NL. Weโre proud to be mission-driven and fueled by recent funding to expand our impact.
As our new Swift Developer, youโll be at the heart of our mobile experienceโbuilding and enhancing the iOS app that families and clinicians rely on every day. In this role, you will:
- Design & build new features in Swift: Architect and implement app modules using Swift, SwiftUI (or UIKit), Combine (or RxSwift), and Apple frameworks (Core Data, AVFoundation, etc.).
- Maintain & optimize the existing codebase: Refactor legacy code, squash bugs, and boost performance for a smooth, responsive user experience on iPhone and iPad.
- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with our Symfony backend developers, Python-based data scientists, and UX designers to integrate AI/ML screening models, data syncing, and remote configuration.
- Ensure rock-solid quality: Write unit/UI tests with XCTest and/or Quick/Nimble, participate in code reviews, and uphold best practices for security and data privacy (GDPR/FDA-ready standards).
- Drive product direction: Pitch ideas in sprint planning, prototype new interactions, and influence the appโs roadmapโyour voice will shape what our users see next.
- Support deployment & monitoring: Manage App Store submissions, set up CI/CD (e.g. GitHub Actions or Bitrise), and leverage Crashlytics or Sentry to track and fix issues in real time.
In short: youโll build the delightful, reliable iOS experience that makes early autism screening accessible to families worldwide. No cookie-cutter apps hereโevery feature you deliver moves the needle on our mission!
We welcome junior, mid-level, and senior developersโyour passion matters most. Our ideal Swift Developer has many of the following:
- Swift expertise: Strong command of Swift (5+) and iOS frameworks; comfortable with SwiftUI and/or UIKit.
- iOS fundamentals: Experience with Xcode, Interface Builder (or programmatic UI), Core Data, networking (URLSession/Alamofire), and on-device ML (Core ML).
- Testing skills: Hands-on with XCTest, UI tests, and mocking frameworks.
- Plus skills: Interest or experience in Python (for data analytics scripts) and basic HTML/CSS (for small web dashboard tweaks) will help you collaborate across our stack. Android experience is a big plus.
- Problem-solver: You dig into tricky bugs, optimize performance, and continuously learn new APIs or patterns.
- Team player: You communicate clearly, give and receive feedback gracefully, and enjoy working alongside developers, neuroscientists, and clinicians.
- Self-starter: You manage tasks proactively, adapt when priorities shift, and take ownership of features end-to-end.
- Mission-driven: You care deeply about building products that improve childrenโs lives through earlier diagnosis and support.
Donโt worry if you donโt check every boxโif youโre excited by our mission and confident you can learn, we want to hear from you!
At Blinklab, we believe in providing an environment where you can do your best work and enjoy coming to work. Joining our team means:
- Friendly, informal culture: Weโre a small startup with a flat structure and a fun, supportive vibe. No stiff corporate bureaucracy โ expect a casual atmosphere where everyoneโs ideas are valued (and where work can be fun!).
- Meaningful impact: Your work will directly contribute to earlier autism diagnoses and better support for families. Every line of code you write serves a real purpose in improving lives. Itโs work you can truly feel good about at the end of the day.
- Growth and learning: Youโll be working with cutting-edge tech โ from AI and machine learning to mobile and cloud computing. We encourage learning and will support your professional development (conferences, courses, or trying new technologies). As we grow, you grow with us, potentially into senior or lead roles.
- Flexibility: Weโre based in Delft, Netherlands, but weโre open to flexible arrangements. Relocation support is available if youโre moving to the Netherlands for this role. We also offer flexible working hours and the option to work from home occasionally (we care about results, not clock-watching).
- Competitive benefits: We offer a competitive salary (commensurate with your experience level) and potential stock options, so you share in Blinklabโs success. Youโll also get the usual perks like paid vacation, sick leave, and whatever gear you need to do your job right. Plus, free coffee and probably some stroopwafels in the office โ๐.
- Exciting journey: Blinklab is at an exciting stage โ weโve recently raised significant funding to accelerate our growth, and youโll join at a time when your work can shape the companyโs future. Itโs a chance to be part of a โsomething specialโ in the making, not just another job.
If this sounds like you, weโd love to hear from you! ๐ Apply now by sending us your CV (and a few lines about yourself) to peter@blinklab.org.
Join us at Blinklab and help build technology that makes a real difference. Weโre excited to meet our next Swift Developer! Even if youโre unsure, drop us a message โ letโs chat about how you can contribute to our mission.
