Azure Platform Engineer
Pay: 130-140k
Location: Remote, with flexibility to work from anywhere; occasional in-office meetings may be required.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to oversee the uptime, security, and performance of cloud-based applications and infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. This role involves managing PaaS and SaaS resources, automating deployment processes, ensuring platform security, and collaborating with development and operations teams to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cloud engineering, DevOps practices, and hands-on experience managing mission-critical cloud workloads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-900 and AZ-305 or equivalent experience
- 4+ years in software engineering, systems administration, or DevOps roles
- 2+ years supporting Windows server-based environments and Azure cloud workloads
- 2+ years automating infrastructure deployment and management using tools like ARM templates, Terraform, PowerShell, or Azure CLI
- 1+ year managing mission-critical, internet-facing applications
- Proficiency with modern languages such as PowerShell, C#, Python, and Bash
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and platform governance
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate across teams
- Provision, manage, and operate Azure PaaS and SaaS resources, including networking, storage, security, and application services
- Automate deployment processes and maintain infrastructure-as-code using ARM, Bicep, Terraform, and Azure DevOps
- Monitor platform performance, manage observability protocols, and troubleshoot issues proactively
- Collaborate with development teams to migrate workloads to Azure-native solutions with minimal downtime
- Implement and manage security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection, VPNs, and access controls
- Maintain detailed documentation, policies, and checklists to uphold security and operational standards
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support and disaster recovery exercises
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and cloud security initiatives
- Manage credentials, certificates, and compliance with organization security policies
- Assist in implementing automation for manual processes and optimize cloud resource efficiency
