Job Description


Strong and modern IT is one of the strategic success factors for the future competitiveness of Hapag-Lloyd. For this reason, we will grow in many areas and, in particular, successively expand the development teams around our internal system. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Test Data Engineer to join our team. As a Test Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products by supporting product teams in analyzing, defining, and creating test data for various testing needs by using your skills and knowledge about creating data models. You will contribute to a highly agile development environment based on microservices, self-contained systems, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices with a high degree of test automation. You will also leverage K2View for advanced Test Data Management (TDM).
    • Use tools like K2View to manage and organize test data efficiently across environments in smart, scalable ways. 

    • Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to understand test data needs at different stages — from UAT to integration and performance. 

    • Design data models that reflect relationships across our systems. 

    • Support our continuous testing efforts by making sure data flows smoothly through CI/CD pipelines. 

    • Keep our data secure and compliant with privacy and regulatory standards. 

    • Help improve how we work by analyzing test results, finding root causes, and building better processes. 

    • Contribute to internal tools for test data simulation, anonymization, and versioning. 

Qualifications
  • 4-5 years of hands-on experience with data pipeline architecture and ETL process development

  • Hands-on experience with Test Data Management tools (like K2View) is a plus

  • Strong skills in working with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and data manipulation techniques. 

  • Good skills in using a version control system like GitLab. 

  • Understanding of designing and using data models to support testing. 

  • Familiarity with modern software development practices (agile, CI/CD, automation). 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on collaboration and communication. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a solution-oriented manner  

  • Solid English skills (our teams are international). 

Nice to Have:

    • Experience with message brokers (Kafka) or cloud platforms (AWS). 

    • Background in data engineering or related areas. 

    • Working knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Java, Python)
