Job Description
We are partnering with a publicly traded, clinical-stage biopharma company focused on discovering and advancing transformative therapies for rare, life-altering conditions. They operate at the intersection of rigorous science and patient-centered urgency and pride themselves on a high-trust, collaborative culture where integrity and transparency are foundational to how they work. The role is mostly remote, but there is a need for some in person work within MA, so the client has a strong preference for candidates that are within the New England area.
The Senior Manager, Human Resources will serve as a key second hire in the HR department, reporting into the CHRO and department heads. This is a "roll-up-your-sleeves" leadership role responsible for the end-to-end employee lifecycle within a scaling biotechnology landscape.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership & Advisory
- Align people strategies with corporate milestones and long-term expansion goals alongside the executive team.
- Design and launch internal protocols that boost organizational health and team connectivity.
- Champion the company’s core principles through clear, consistent internal messaging.
People Advocacy & Talent Development
- Act as a dedicated resource for personnel at all levels, providing expert guidance on workplace matters and professional standards.
- Facilitate the end-to-end performance cycle, including goal alignment and internal commendation programs.
- Resolve complex interpersonal dynamics with a focus on fair practice and regulatory adherence.
Operational Stewardship & Total Rewards
- Support the CHRO in auditing and enhancing total rewards packages to remain competitive in the biotech market.
- Oversee third-party benefits administrators to ensure a "white-glove" experience for all staff members.
- Lead critical year-end fiscal activities, including the calculation of performance-based incentives and cost-of-living adjustments.
- Maintain rigorous standards for digital personnel files and HRIS data integrity.
Engagement & Cultural Vitality
- Cultivate a unified culture across a distributed workforce through creative engagement initiatives and feedback loops (e.g., climate surveys).
- Maintain total compliance with multi-state and federal labor statutes, ensuring the company is protected as it grows.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 8+ years of HR experience with a strong preference for those coming from small-to-midsize biotech, pharma, or specialized life sciences environments.
- Virtual Leadership: Deep, hands-on experience managing 100% remote HR operations and fostering culture across time zones.
- Public Company Readiness: Prior experience managing HR compliance (SOX) within a publicly listed organization is a significant advantage.
- Technical Mastery: Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel/PowerPoint) and a natural aptitude for modern HR tech (AI tools, ATS, and HRIS).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certifications are highly preferred.
- Core Competencies: Extreme attention to detail, the ability to pivot quickly in a fast-paced setting, and the emotional intelligence to influence across all levels of seniority.
