About Lima
Lima exists to help the world’s best people build their lives and careers in the United States. We identify extraordinary global talent, help them navigate complex immigration pathways, and connect them with high-impact opportunities in the U.S. — strengthening our companies, our communities, and our country in the process.
We’re a small, fast-moving team operating at the intersection of talent, immigration, and nation-building.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Global Talent Recruiter / Talent Sourcer to own and scale our talent pipeline.
In this role, you will:
- Scout exceptional people around the world (engineers, founders, researchers, operators, and other high-impact professionals)
- Recruit them into Lima’s programs and talent network
- Support their journey as they move to the United States through our immigration and placement pathways
You’re part recruiter, part headhunter, part missionary for the idea that America is stronger when we attract the world’s best builders and thinkers.
This is an internal role at Lima, not an agency role. You’ll be embedded with our founders, immigration experts, and program teams, and you’ll shape how we find and select the people we bet on.
What You’ll Do
1. Own Global Talent Sourcing
- Identify and engage top global talent across channels: LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter/X, academic networks, founder communities, conferences, and referrals.
- Build and manage outbound campaigns targeted at specific profiles (e.g., AI researchers, startup founders, senior engineers, operators at breakout startups, etc.).
- Develop and maintain a high-quality, structured talent pipeline for current and future Lima programs.
2. Run a World-Class Talent Process
- Conduct initial screens to understand candidates’ skills, track record, ambitions, and potential immigration paths.
- Evaluate candidates not just for “job fit,” but for long-term impact in the U.S. — entrepreneurs, builders, and contributors who will strengthen the country.
- Guide candidates through each step of Lima’s process: from discovery and assessment to immigration consultation and placement.
3. Partner With Immigration & Program Teams
- Translate legal/immigration realities into clear expectations for candidates: who’s a strong fit, what’s possible, and what the timeline looks like.
- Collaborate on program design by sharing real-time feedback from the global talent market.
4. Build and Nurture Talent Communities
- Maintain warm relationships with promising candidates, even if timing is not immediately right.
- Become a recognizable Lima “face” among founders, builders, and high-potential candidates abroad.
Who You Are
- Mission-driven. You care deeply about the idea that attracting global talent makes the United States stronger, more innovative, and more dynamic.
- World-class sourcer. You know how to find needles in haystacks: exceptional people in noisy markets.
- Exceptional communicator. You can write crisp, compelling outreach messages and hold thoughtful, human conversations across cultures and backgrounds.
- Structured & detail-oriented. You manage pipelines, keep notes clean, and don’t let great candidates fall through the cracks.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. Immigration is complex, and every candidate’s situation is slightly different. You’re good at operating in messy, real-world contexts.
- Globally fluent. You like working across time zones and cultures and see it as a feature, not a bug. Also open to travel internationally if needed (<10% of time).
Requirements
- 3+ years in recruiting, talent sourcing, headhunting, or talent acquisition, ideally with strong outbound experience.
- Demonstrated success filling hard roles or sourcing hard-to-reach talent (e.g., top engineers, founders, researchers, or senior operators).
- Experience working with international candidates and/or distributed teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English; comfortable doing most work via writing (email, async updates, candidate notes).
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and autonomy.
Nice to Have
- Experience with immigration-related recruiting (relocation, visa sponsorship, global mobility, etc.).
- Familiarity with U.S. visa categories or a strong interest in learning them quickly.
- Prior experience recruiting for high-growth startups, tech companies, or research organizations.
What Success Looks Like in 6–12 Months
- You’ve built a repeatable top-of-funnel engine for finding and engaging exceptional global talent.
- Lima has a strong, high-signal pipeline of vetted candidates ready for our programs and U.S. opportunities.
- Candidates consistently describe the Lima process as clear, humane, and inspiring.
- You’ve helped dozens of high-potential people start (or continue) their journey to the United States — and we can point to them as proof that smart, ethical talent immigration makes the country stronger.
