Job Description
Title: Human Resources I-9 Compliance Specialist
Type: Contract
Location: United States, 100% remote
This role will focus on conducting a full internal review of I-9 records, correcting compliance issues, and supporting the migration of I-9s from a legacy platform. The specialist will partner closely with a small HR Compliance team and work independently with a high degree of accuracy, discretion, and ownership.
Responsibilities
- Conduct full-scope discovery of the current state of I-9 compliance
- Audit, remediate, and correct employee I-9 records within the Equifax platform
- Support migration of I-9s from a legacy system to a new platform
- Pull and analyze data from multiple HR systems using Microsoft Excel
- Track remediation efforts, follow up on outstanding items, and ensure timely completion
- Generate reports and dashboards from multiple data sources
- Provide regular status updates and requested data to HR leaders and managers
- Draft clear communications for managers and employees related to compliance efforts
- Deliver project updates verbally, in writing, and via PowerPoint presentations
- Provide support to HR Business Partners, managers, and the HR Compliance team
Qualifications
- 4–5+ years of hands-on I-9 compliance and completion experience
- 4–5+ years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent professional experience
- Strong experience managing employee records, including I-9 documentation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Experience using Equifax and/or E-Verify (3+ years)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality and compliance
- Ability to work independently, manage detailed administrative work, and drive projects forward
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and tools
- Experience creating documentation and training materials using Word and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Outlook and Microsoft Teams
- Professional HR experience working within the retail/apparel industry is required
- Experience or education in Change Management and/or Project Management methodologies
