We are seeking an experienced Rust Backend Developer to join our customer’s team, contributing to AI-assisted developer tools and building robust, scalable backend systems. This role blends Rust expertise with hands-on AI model testing in Cursor, shaping the next generation of developer workflows.
Job Summary
As a Rust Developer – AI Expert, you will design, implement, and optimize backend APIs while collaborating with AI research teams. Your feedback will directly influence the performance, reliability, and usability of advanced AI coding tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable backend systems.
- Implement data validation, error handling, and security best practices within backend services.
- Plan and execute database migrations, schema changes, and performance optimizations.
- Test AI-powered models in Cursor, providing detailed incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
- Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts, evaluating AI impact on real coding workflows.
- Collaborate with the research team in Slack to propose improvements and share insights.
- Submit detailed post-burst surveys to report on model performance and developer experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience with strong expertise in Rust.
- Proficient in building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Advanced understanding of backend data validation, error handling, and API security.
- Hands-on experience with database migrations, schema design, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with AI coding tools; experience with Cursor highly desirable.
