We are partnered with a market leading owner, operator and developer of energy storage projects, specializing in energy storage at the distribution level of the electric grid (utilities). They focus on stand-alone energy storage projects in urban environments.

They are hiring a Controls Engineer to play a critical role in bringing controls design and software development in-house, owning scalable system architecture, and supporting commissioning across live projects. This is a highly hands-on role with long-term ownership and platform impact.

*This role is fully onsite in Brooklyn.

Responsibilities🔨:

• Take existing engineering drawings and control programs and revise them to improve scalability of control packages
• Initially the role will be more focused on coding and testing and designing systems
• Design control systems in AutoCAD, including controller selection and electrical schematics

• Program and configure control systems within a modern SCADA environment
• Managing third-party engineering relationships during transition phase (light project management)
• Participate in on-site commissioning (short-term expectation, not a permanent travel role)
• Own testing and validation, including writing and executing test procedures in the interim
• Long-term ownership of system design standards, test plans, and commissioning documentation
• Over time, testing and commissioning will be delegated as the team scales (likely 1–2 years out)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 2 years MIN experience with Ignition SCADA
• Strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD
• Experience designing control panels, racks and electrical schematics in AutoCAD
• Direct experience performing SCADA work and RTAC/PLC programming ("controllers")
• Exposure to Python
• Comfortable working onsite in NYC and excited by a fast-paced environment

• Networking knowledge (switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs)
• Software engineering background in a modern development environment
