Job Description


We have a 6 month contract for a Payroll Specialist role which is fully remote if you live within the province of British Columbia. This is a great opportunity to use your payroll experience and education to be part of a great group who are driving change through automation and process improvement. They are looking to you to get involved and help the Payroll team keep things running & assist with the implementation!


The Mason Group is honored to have partnered exclusively with our client to assist with filling their Payroll Specialist role. Reporting to the Payroll Manager for this 6-month contract, the successful applicant will assist with managing a small but complex hourly paid payroll, while helping to drive change to automate and streamline processes.


A strong understanding of payroll and a keen interest in technology and process improvements will provide you with the aptitude and passion to embrace and assist with this change. The scope of your role will include helping employees with their questions, and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of the hourly paid payroll. You also have a passion for accounting to some degree and are excited to include year-end and other reconciliations as part of your scope during the new system implementation.

Requirements


  • A Canadian PCP designation is a differentiator.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience administrating a payroll for hourly employees.
  • Ability to work with employees remotely in an environment of continuous learning.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level Excel skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Working knowledge in a variety of payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code.
  • Highly organized and very detail oriented with a reputation for accuracy.
  • An understanding of the accounting cycle and payroll accounting.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Able to work independently, but within a team environment.
  • A people person who is able to work collaboratively and respectfully at all levels within a diverse work group.
