Job Description
We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer to lead the technical transformation of HTAG Analytics, Australia's leading proptech analytics platform. You'll architect and build a modern, scalable platform from the ground up, owning both frontend and backend, making critical technology decisions, and setting the technical foundation for the next phase of growth.
This is a high-impact role where your code directly influences how thousands of property investors and real estate professionals participate in the Australian real estate market. You'll have autonomy, direct input into our product roadmap, and the opportunity to build something significant from the ground up.
Ideal for:Â Mid-to-senior developers who've shipped full-stack applications, have strong React experience, and want to make a real impact beyond corporate bureaucracy.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead full-stack architecture – Design and build responsive frontend components and scalable backend systems that work seamlessly together
- Build the frontend – Develop analytics dashboards, property search, and portfolio modeling tools with a strong focus on React and modern JavaScript
- Develop the backend – Build scalable REST APIs with Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS) to support real-time property data and analytics
- Own data visualization – Create interactive charts and mapping features that make complex property data intuitive and actionable
- Architect for scale – Design efficient database schemas, implement caching strategies, and ensure our platform handles millions of property records without breaking a sweat
- Ship fast – Work in 2-week sprints, take ownership of features from concept to production, and deploy multiple times per week
Technical Skills (Required):
- Strong React experience – 5+ years shipping production React applications; comfortable with hooks, context, state management (Redux, Zustand, etc.), and performance optimization
- Full-stack capability – Solid backend experience with Node.js, Express, or similar; comfortable writing APIs, designing databases, and thinking about scalability
- PostgreSQL & database design – Can write efficient queries, design schemas, understand indexing and query optimization
- TypeScript – Prefer working with types; writing TypeScript is your default, not an afterthought
- Testing – Write unit tests and integration tests as part of your workflow (Jest, React Testing Library)
- Cloud & DevOps basics – Familiarity with AWS, Docker, environment variables, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices
Soft Skills (Essential):
- Ownership mindset – You don't wait for permission; you ship code, fix bugs, and improve systems. You see problems and solve them.
- Clear communication – You can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and take feedback without defensiveness
- Curiosity about the domain – You want to understand property markets, data analytics, and how real estate professionals work
- Bias toward simplicity – You recognize that elegant, maintainable code beats clever code every time

- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment
The Opportunity:
- High leverage – You're not just coding features; you're reshaping a platform that's used by investors, agents, and mortgage brokers across Australia. Your decisions matter.
- Growth trajectory – We've proven product-market fit and are scaling fast. You'll be building the technical foundation that supports 10x growth.

The Technical Assessment:
We've designed a rigorous take-home technical assessment that mirrors real work you'll do here. You'll build a mini analytics platform with property data, API design, frontend components, and data visualization. It's how we assess whether you can ship.
The assessment will be the first step of the process. If your submission demonstrates strong full-stack capabilities, we'll move to conversations with the team.
Remuneration:
- Compensation is based on location, experience, and technical assessment results
- Fair market rates will be offered competitive within your local market
- Salary discussions happen after the technical evaluation is complete
Hit "Apply" and include:
- Your GitHub profile or link to public code samples (required)
- A brief note on why this role excites you (not a generic cover letter, tell us what specifically appeals to you about building proptech analytics)
- Your timezone and current work situation
We review applications weekly. Strong technical submissions will move to the next stage.
Timeline:
- Step 1: Technical assessment (3–4 hours, 1-week deadline)
- Step 2:Â Technical debrief with the team (1 hour, discussing your code)
- Step 3:Â Meet the team (30 min, culture conversation)
- Step 4:Â Offer & negotiation
Time from submission to offer: 3–5 weeks.
