Senior Data Engineer (6-12 Month Contract, Extendable)
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our client’s team on a full time basis. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning use cases.
This is a remote role with full time EU / SAST working hours aligned to EU time zone. Must be available for daily stand-up everyday at 0930 CET.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- 5+ Years as a Data Engineer
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines for large-scale data processing.
- Build and optimize data architectures (data warehouses, data lakes, streaming platforms).
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data availability and reliability.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with governance/security standards.
- Automate workflows and implement monitoring solutions for data processes.
- Support migration and integration projects with cloud and on-prem systems.

WHAT WILL MAKE US HAPPY 🤩
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer (5+ Years) in large scale organisations
- Strong programming skills in Python or Scala.
- Hands-on experience with SQL / Postgres
- Expertise in ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Kafka, Spark).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setup.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written & spoken).
