🌏 About the role

We are recruiting a Senior Information Systems Business Analyst to support front-office trading, risk management, and middle office activities within a global energy trading environment.

The role is based in Melbourne, working closely with trading, risk, and IT teams across Australia, Singapore, and Europe. You will play a key role in shaping and improving front-to-back trading systems, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and performance in a live trading context.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Business Analyst from commodities or financial markets who is open to an international move and wants to work at the heart of trading operations.

🎯 Your mission

1. Business Analysis & Functional Design

• Work closely with traders, risk managers, and middle office to gather and formalise business requirements
• Analyse existing processes and system behaviours to identify gaps, risks, or inefficiencies
• Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, aligned with global architecture
• Design workflows, data flows, and use cases supporting system enhancements

2. Trade Lifecycle & Risk Focus

• Develop a strong understanding of the front-to-back trade lifecycle
• Contribute to topics such as pricing, Greeks, P&L explain, valuation, and risk metrics
• Partner with market risk and product control teams to improve reporting and limit monitoring
• Support validation of risk engine outputs and new model implementations

3. Stakeholder Management

• Act as a functional bridge between business teams and IT developers (local & global)
• Facilitate workshops, clarify priorities, and manage expectations

• Communicate clearly in a fast-paced, high-stakes trading environment

4. Testing & Go-Live

• Define and execute UAT scenarios and test cases
• Support users during testing, defect resolution, and data validation
• Contribute to go-live preparation, change management, and post-deployment support

5. Continuous Improvement

• Propose system and process improvements (automation, usability, accuracy)
• Maintain up-to-date functional documentation
• Contribute to the APAC systems roadmap

👤 Your profile

Experience & Background

• 10+ years experience as a Business Analyst in trading, commodities, or financial services
• Strong knowledge of trade lifecycle and market risk
• Hands-on experience with trading or risk systems such as:
• Murex, Endur, Orchestrade, Calypso, Beacon (or similar)
• Comfortable working independently and in complex environments

Technical & Functional Skills

• Excellent ability to write functional specifications, UAT scenarios, and test cases
• Solid understanding of:
