Job Description
We're building the single interface for local businesses. One multimodal AI partner—text, voice, whatever works—that replaces the chaos of fragmented software with a true business partner.
Today, local business owners juggle dozens of tools: POS, accounting, scheduling, reviews, marketing, suppliers. Each has its own dashboard, its own logic, its own demands on their attention. We're building the layer that orchestrates all of it on their behalf—so owners can focus on their craft while their AI partner handles the complexity.
If you love your local coffee shop, book store, restaurant, boutique, or just good old off-license, this is your chance to help them not just survive, but actually thrive.
Two repeat operators (Henry led several products & AI at SumUp, Alex was CEO Europe with a previous exit) building from a hacker house on the Rhine in Bonn.
We've raised our pre-seed, have live merchants, and are seeing real traction. We're creating SF-intensity in Germany: a tight-knit crew living and building together, shipping napkin sketch → prototype → live with merchants in half a day. We celebrate wins, push each other, and genuinely enjoy the work.
Why this is technically exciting
This isn't wrapper-on-GPT territory. We're working at the frontier of:
- Browser automation that actually works — reliable agentic action across arbitrary web interfaces, including auth, avoiding cloudflare etc.
- Multi-agent orchestration — coordinating specialized agents across merchant tools in real-time, with expert context
- Memory and context management — building persistent understanding of a business that compounds over time, and multiplies with our best practices
- Agentic self-improvement — systems that get smarter from every interaction
- UX for agentic systems — designing interfaces where AI takes action, not just gives suggestions, through the simplest interface ever (simpler than ChatGPT)
We're also building a unique dataset of industry knowledge and best practices—what actually works for cafés, restaurants, retail—that no one else has.
The role

- Ship end-to-end: napkin sketch → prototype → live with real merchants in half a day
- Build multi-agent, multi-model, multimodal systems that feel like magic and don't break
- Jump across the stack: product, backend, AI agents, data pipelines and infra
- Work with rich business data, smart context management, and combining APIs and datasets to provide insights that drive real action (e.g. "boost revenue by 5% through smart pricing")
- Co-create our engineering culture: tech stack, tooling, quality bar, and how we ship. This is not a "feature team" role. You'll be building core product and company, side by side with us
What we're looking for
Builders who ship things for fun. Hackathons, side projects, tinkering with agents—we care about what you've built more than your credentials. You should be able to move across the stack (backend-leaning), think from first principles, and thrive when there's no playbook. 1-5 years experience is the sweet spot, but we'll talk to anyone exceptional.
You might be a fit if:
- You're high-horsepower – you think from first principles, learn fast and like hard problems
- You've built real things end-to-end before, ideally in your own project or an early-stage startup
- You can go full-stack (or close): backend, some frontend, AI/automation – whatever it takes to ship
- You love vibe coding and rapid iteration, but still know when real engineering rigor matters
- You're energized by ambiguity and the "no playbook yet" phase
- You're up for working really hard on something that matters, with people you genuinely like
- You want a tight-knit crew where every team member really matters

The team we're building
We are keeping the engineering team small, a tight-knit team of exceptional people. Each person will be a critical pillar of what we build—not a cog in a machine. We want brilliant, exceptional builders who care deeply about craft. We encourage creativity and ownership. We've already released open source libraries on the cutting edge of browser automation and multi-agent systems. If you build something great, you ship it.
What we offer
- Day 0 impact: Be #2/#3 employee of a startup with the ambition to become the operating system for millions of local businesses around the world
- Comp & equity: We'll pay what we need to get the best people. Significant founding equity—you'll be a real owner of what we build together
- Location: Bonn, Germany—in-person at the hacker house. We sponsor visas and support relocation. The best room in the house is still available for our next founding engineer hire (though living in the hacker house is optional—it's a perk, not a requirement)
How we work
We're in full builder mode: working all the time we reasonably can, but focused on sustainable intensity.
We like to:
- Cut to the chase and always assume good intent
- Have strong opinions loosely held
- Push each other to new heights and offer support along the way
If this sounds like you, send us a short note about something you've built that you're proud of (including links/github if you can). We'd love to meet you.
