Job Description

Contollo Consulting is a technology-driven consulting firm focused on building high-performing distributed engineering teams across LATAM. We partner with innovative U.S.-based companies to deliver scalable software solutions, automation platforms, and data-driven systems. Our mission is to unlock global talent, drive operational excellence, and create long-term social and economic impact through meaningful technology work.

We are currently supporting a global, multi-country organization in identifying an Interim IT Director to provide operational oversight, continuity, and technical leadership during a defined transition period.

Role Description

This is a 3-month contract engagement (renewable, with potential eligibility for a permanent role). The position is reported to the Global Operations Director and is fully remote. Immediate availability is required.

The Interim IT Director will provide senior-level operational oversight of a distributed IT function supporting approximately 450 staff across 20 country offices.

This role is focused on stability, risk management, escalation leadership, vendor coordination, and service continuity — not long-term IT strategy design or large-scale digital transformation. The IT environment is largely SaaS-based, supported by cloud-hosted infrastructure in Microsoft Azure (including Azure SQL, Azure Functions, and Ubuntu VMs), with a strong emphasis on data integrations, ETL pipelines, reporting systems, and secure access management.

The internal IT team consists of 6 core staff members, supported by external consulting firms and technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Continuity & Transition Leadership

  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of enterprise systems, data platforms, and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain visibility over system configurations, integrations, dependencies, and known risks.
  • Identify and proactively manage operational and technical risks.
  • Prepare structured documentation and system overviews to enable a smooth handover to permanent leadership.

2. Technical Oversight & Incident Escalation

  • Provide senior oversight across enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, and collaboration platforms.
  • Serve as escalation and decision authority during critical incidents and outages.
  • Ensure timely diagnosis and resolution of issues by internal teams and external vendors.
  • Oversee monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery mechanisms.

3. Infrastructure, Data & Systems Oversight

  • Oversee cloud-based infrastructure (Azure SQL, Azure Functions, VMs) without initiating major architectural changes.
  • Ensure reliability of system integrations, ETL pipelines, automated workflows, and reporting environments.
  • Maintain effective access controls and identity governance.
  • Ensure help desk and end-user support functions meet agreed service expectations.
  • Oversee license management, renewals, and vendor contracts to avoid service disruption.

4. Security & Compliance Oversight

  • Maintain current cybersecurity and data protection controls.
  • Coordinate response to security or data-related incidents.
  • Ensure ongoing audits, training, and third-party security assessments continue without interruption.
  • Preserve existing security posture and operational risk controls.

5. Vendor & Partner Coordination

  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants.
  • Oversee SLAs, renewals, deliverables, and issue resolution.
  • Provide operational input for short-term contract extensions or stop-gap arrangements where needed.

6. Team Leadership & Alignment

  • Provide day-to-day prioritization clarity and coordination for the internal IT team.
  • Remove blockers and support effective execution.
  • Maintain current team structures and operational workflows during the engagement.

Required Qualifications

Leadership & Operational Accountability

  • 5+ years leading IT teams or IT functions with direct operational responsibility.
  • Experience acting as a senior escalation authority during complex technical incidents.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical risk, trade-offs, and decisions to executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating blended internal teams and external vendors.
  • Availability to engage immediately for a focused interim engagement.

Enterprise Systems & Cloud Oversight

  • 5+ years accountable for availability and reliability of enterprise IT systems in production environments.
  • 3+ years overseeing data-intensive systems, including data integrity, recovery planning, and operational risk.
  • 3+ years overseeing integrations, ETL pipelines, or automated business processes.
  • 3+ years overseeing cloud-based environments (e.g., Azure) with responsibility for monitoring, access control, and cost awareness.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems where downtime has material impact.

Security & Governance

  • Experience overseeing information security and IT audit processes.
  • Familiarity with audit requirements (e.g., SOC reports, internal/external IT audits).
  • Experience operating in compliance-driven or regulated environments is highly valued.

Nice to Have

  • Experience acting in IT leadership roles during organizational transitions.
  • Experience supporting distributed, multi-country teams.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and Power BI.
  • Experience in international development, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience working within consulting or professional services models.
  • Exposure to IT budget oversight and vendor cost management.

Success Criteria

Success during this interim engagement will be defined by:

  • Core IT and data systems remain stable and reliable throughout the engagement.
  • Incidents are promptly escalated and resolved by responsible teams or vendors.
  • Key technical and integration risks are clearly identified and either mitigated or documented.
  • Internal teams report clarity in priorities and confidence in escalation pathways.
  • Clear, practical documentation exists to enable efficient onboarding of permanent leadership.
