Job Description
The Opportunity
Looking for a senior role where your expertise is valued? At Nelson O’Neill, we are a fully remote, specialist digital agency with an "enthusiastically nerdy" approach to digital marketing.
We operate on a permanent 9-day fortnight. This isn't a compressed work week, you simply get every second Friday off to recharge (26 extra days off a year).
The Role: Driving Commercial Growth
We are looking for a high-level strategist to lead enterprise-scale SEO programs. With eCommerce representing at least 50% of your client portfolio, you will be responsible for moving the needle on revenue - not just rankings!
Key Responsibilities
- eCommerce Architecture: Own the end-to-end strategy for high-SKU environments, focusing on faceted navigation, crawl management, and Core Web Vitals.
- Complex Puzzle Solving: Solve complex indexing, duplication, and content decay issues across platforms like WooCommerce, Shopify and Magento.
- Strategic Content Frameworks: Use your strong content briefing skills to build, create, and critique high-impact content. Build sophisticated and scalable content frameworks involving schema, entity mapping, competitor insights, and internal linking.
- The AI Frontier: Help evolve our approach to AI-led search and LLM search strategies to maintain visibility across emerging generative search experiences.
- Consultative Client Relationships: Act as the primary point of contact for your portfolio. You will lead monthly strategy sessions, translate complex technical data into clear business insights, and act as a trusted advisor to Marketing Managers and Business Owners.
- Performance Reporting: Build and present reports (using GA4 and Looker Studio) that clearly link organic growth to revenue outcomes.

What You’ll Bring
- 5+ Years of SEO Mastery: You have previously worked in an agency. You thrive in a fast-paced, multi-client environment and know how to manage expectations like a pro.
- Proven eCommerce Expertise: Essential. You have a track record of managing large-scale retail SEO with measurable commercial impact.
- Strategic Mindset: The ability to diagnose complex technical or content issues, translating them into understandable, actionable business terms for clients.
- Technical Authority: Deep proficiency in key SEO tools including Screaming Frog, GSC, GA4, SEMRush etc.
- The "Strategic Doer": You are a high-level architect who isn't afraid to get your hands dirty. You have the vision to build a 12-month roadmap and the technical "full-stack" capability to jump into the CMS and execute the fixes yourself if needed.
- AU Residency: This is a 100% remote role for residents currently based in Australia.

The Rewards
- Senior Salary Package: Generous 6 figure salary + super + perks that recognises your experience and level of technical expertise.
- 9-Day Fortnight: A permanent benefit designed for a sustainable work-life balance. We don't believe in "burnout culture", we believe in high-impact work and plenty of time to recharge.
- Autonomy & Trust: We empower our specialists to test new ideas and own their strategies.
