Job Description

Role Overview

We’re looking for a seasoned, hands-on People leader to own and evolve our People function at Knack. This role blends strategic partnership with day-to-day execution — ideal for someone who enjoys building thoughtful People practices while staying close to the business.

As our Senior People Manager, you will work closely with leadership to shape and execute a People strategy that supports company growth, strengthens our culture, and enables high performance across the organization.

We are looking for someone who can operate as a consistent, embedded member of the team. As such, we are not considering agencies, consulting firms or fractional providers. This is a part-time, salaried role (20–25 hours/week) with flexibility in how hours are structured. Knack is a fully remote company. Location for this role is flexible within US time zones.

Its enterprise-grade functionality includes an AI-powered visual builder, robust data structures, user access controls, and automation capabilities, all delivered by a fully remote team committed to trust, continuous improvement, and measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Leadership

  • Serve as the primary People partner to leadership and employees
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to define, execute, and track Knack’s People strategy
  • Advise leadership on organizational design, team effectiveness, and scaling best practices

Performance & Manager Enablement

  • Own and evolve performance management processes, including goal-setting, feedback, and review cycles
  • Coach managers on performance management, employee development, and navigating complex team dynamics
  • Support and manage employee relations issues with sound judgment and discretion

Talent & Hiring

  • Design and refine hiring processes to ensure an efficient, high-quality candidate experience and alignment with company values
  • Partner with hiring managers and our Operations Associate on recruiting and hiring

Learning, Culture & Engagement

  • Proactively engage with employees across the company to maintain a strong pulse on engagement, morale, and organizational health — surfacing insights and themes to leadership and recommending actions
  • Build and implement scalable programs such as 90-day onboarding and new manager training
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and overall company culture

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years in HR or People Operations, including experience as a Senior HR generalist or People lead
  • Experience in startups or SMB companies; experience with remote and/or distributed teams strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically. Strong operational and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior leadership and company-wide audiences
  • Experience working part-time or in fractional roles is a plus
