Key Responsibilities
Design and deploy network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, wireless)
Troubleshoot Level 2 issues across LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN environments
Conduct site assessments, audits, and capacity planning
Implement secure network architectures aligned to best practice frameworks
Produce clear documentation, diagrams, and handover materials
Support data centre connectivity and infrastructure tasks
Monitor environments via SIEM, analysing alerts and identifying threats
Perform Tier 1–2 incident triage and support response activities
Utilise SOAR and automation tools to improve detection and response
Investigate attack paths and support forensic analysis using network insights
Contribute to detection rules, playbooks, and monitoring improvements
Stay current with emerging threats and vulnerabilities
Support client meetings with technical updates and insights
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Assist in advising clients on network security improvements

About the Opportunity


We are seeking a Network Security Engineer for a contract opportunity within a fast-paced Managed Security Services environment.


This is a dual-discipline role combining network engineering and security operations, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work while building deeper cybersecurity expertise. You’ll work across a multi-client environment, contributing to both infrastructure delivery and active threat monitoring.


Key Responsibilities


Network Engineering & Deployment

  • Design and deploy network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, wireless)
  • Troubleshoot Level 2 issues across LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN environments
  • Conduct site assessments, audits, and capacity planning
  • Implement secure network architectures aligned to best practice frameworks
  • Produce clear documentation, diagrams, and handover materials
  • Support data centre connectivity and infrastructure tasks

Security Analysis & SOC Contribution

  • Monitor environments via SIEM, analysing alerts and identifying threats
  • Perform Tier 1–2 incident triage and support response activities
  • Utilise SOAR and automation tools to improve detection and response
  • Investigate attack paths and support forensic analysis using network insights
  • Contribute to detection rules, playbooks, and monitoring improvements

Client Engagement

What We're Looking For


Experience & Skills


  • 2–4 years in network engineering or infrastructure, ideally within MSSP/managed services
  • Hands-on experience with routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to or strong interest in security operations (SIEM, incident triage, threat analysis)
  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, and AI-driven security tools (hands-on experience advantageous)
  • Understanding of network security principles (firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, secure configs)
  • Knowledge of Essential Eight, ISM, NIST CSF, ISO 27001
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences


Certifications (Preferred / In Progress)


  • CCNA or CCNP
  • Fortinet NSE 4 or 5
  • CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+
