Job Description


Hansell Tierney is partnering with an innovative aerospace engineering organization to identify a Payload Integration & Test Engineer to join their growing team.

Compensation: The annual base salary range for this role is $101,000 – $158,000. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonus or other incentive compensation.



POSITION SUMMARY

A leading aerospace organization is seeking Level II or Senior Integration & Test Engineers to support advanced air-launched hypersonic vehicle payloads. The ideal candidate will have experience in vehicle payload integration and testing, and will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team and program management.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with systems engineering, test engineers, and program leadership to define and implement vehicle integration and test activities
  • Develop and execute hardware-in-the-loop and on-vehicle test procedures
  • Maintain an up-to-date test objective database with input from multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ensure vehicle testing meets all requirements
  • Participate in test planning, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), test execution, troubleshooting, and post-test data reviews
  • Architect and optimize data review methodology and tools
  • Understand dependencies between subsystems
  • Set and maintain standards for test planning and documentation
  • Demonstrate accountability, integrity, and follow-through


Qualifications & Skills


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in small, dynamic engineering teams with multiple responsibilities per member
  • Previous test experience (vehicle integration, ground testing, and/or flight testing)
  • Familiarity with avionics, instrumentation, software, fluid systems, liquid rockets, and/or structures
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems (e.g., Jira)
  • Familiarity with requirement management systems (e.g., Jama, Cameo, DOORS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Test Conductor
  • Experience contributing to major technical reviews (System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review)
  • Experience maintaining aerospace industry standards for vehicle configuration and changes
  • Experience with air-launched hypersonic vehicle development
  • Experience with technical risk identification, management, and mitigation
  • Experience defining, managing, and verifying requirements for hypersonic vehicles with hot-structure airframes
  • Current DOD Secret security clearance

Preferred Skills:

  • Programming experience (MATLAB, Python)
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiarity with configuration and requirement management systems (Jira, Jama, Cameo, DOORS)

Education & Experience

  • Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) and 2–5 years of experience, or equivalent combination
  • Senior: Bachelor’s degree and 5–10 years of experience, or equivalent combination

  • On-site position based in Southern California - Relocation Assistance provided
  • Travel required up to approximately 10%
