The organization provides software solutions supporting one of the largest government agencies dedicated to serving United States Veterans and their families. 2. About the Opportunity:
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Mid Level/Journeyman) will lead efforts to ensure software quality across multiple teams. This role focuses on designing and executing test strategies, elevating quality standards, and mentoring other QA professionals. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and a broad view of software quality, contributing directly to the effectiveness and reliability of software that supports Veteran services.
3. Responsibilities:
• Lead design and execution of comprehensive test strategies across workstreams and platforms
• Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test data aligned with complex workflows and system architecture
• Manage defect identification, documentation, root cause analysis, and resolution tracking
• Act as a QA leader in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, design, and code reviews
• Mentor QA engineers and promote a culture of quality
• Evaluate and expand test automation frameworks and CI/CD testing pipelines
• Analyze user needs and environments to ensure alignment with architecture and accessibility standards
• Drive quality process improvements and introduce modern testing methodologies
• Communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders

4. Requirements:
• 2-5 years of software quality assurance experience with complex enterprise or government systems
• Expertise in test planning, test case design, defect lifecycle management, and release readiness
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and cross-functional collaboration
• Working knowledge of Appian is a significant plus
• Experience mentoring QA team members and standardizing processes
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments and modern web application architecture
• Proficiency with QA tools such as Jira and TestRail or equivalents
• Experience or knowledge in test automation tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is a strong plus but not required
• Familiarity with Process Playbook is desirable but not required
• Experience with Section 508/accessibility testing highly desirable
• Prior work with federal or VA.gov digital services highly desirable
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field, or 8 additional years of experience instead of a degree
• Ability to obtain Background Investigation Clearance

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
