Role purpose
The DevOps Engineer will bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring that models and applications developed by the team are seamlessly integrated into production environments. This role is responsible for connecting core models to external systems (northbound/southbound APIs), deploying solutions into real-world environments, and establishing robust operational practices for ongoing support or handover.

Effectively and efficiently support a diverse set of technical projects with specific outcomes via programs of work in Technology delivery as well as expert input and recommendation with regards to future looking technical projects.
The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role will be the design and delivery of quality Engineering solutions for Telstra's Autonomous Planning and autonomous network.

· Design, build and maintain applications/tools to manage and expose domain resources and services.
· Integrate core models and applications with northbound and southbound APIs.

· Containerise applications and manage orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
· Deploy solutions to cloud or on-premises production environments.
· Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for production systems.
· Ensure security best practices and compliance in deployment and operations.
· Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
· Document deployment processes and operational runbooks for handover.

Essential Technical Skills:
- Looking for candidates with 6-9 years of relevant experience.
- Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in language like Python for automation and integration. Ability to write scripts for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- API Integration: Experience with northbound/southbound APIs (REST, gRPC, Webhooks). Understanding of data models and how to connect them to external systems.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Expertise in tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI. Automating build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes. Ability to deploy and manage microservices in production environments.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP. Familiarity with cloud networking, IAM, and scaling strategies.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Skills in Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi for provisioning and configuration management.
- Monitoring & Logging: Implementing observability with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog. Setting up alerts and dashboards for production systems.
- Security & Compliance: Knowledge of secure coding practices, API security, and secrets management. Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to your environment.
- Version Control & Collaboration: Strong Git skills and experience with branching strategies. Comfortable working in collaborative environments (code reviews, pull requests).
Highly desirable skills: - Experience with legacy-to-modern system migrations
- Strong knowledge in security best practice
- Familiarity with TMF standards (if relevant to your environment)
- Exposure to network management and observability tools
- Experience in Agile/DevOps environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
