About Qolytics
Qolytics is building an intelligent movement analytics platform that transforms real-time sensor data into actionable insights for athletes, coaches, and clinicians. Our system captures full-body motion using wearable sensors and processes it into accurate biomechanical outputs such as segment orientation, joint kinematics, and movement quality metrics. We are not building a visualization tool, we are building a real-time biomechanics system.
As a growing startup, we value trust, accountability, and clear communication over rigid hours. You’ll join a small, focused team where your work directly shapes the core product.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Biomechanics / Motion Engineer to build the core motion intelligence system behind Qolytics. This role sits at the intersection of biomechanics, sensor fusion, and real-time systems. You will be responsible for turning raw IMU sensor data into accurate, reliable representations of human movement. This is a motion-first, physics-driven role, not a machine learning or visualization-focused position.
What you’ll do
- Develop algorithms to convert IMU sensor data into accurate representations of human movement, including segment orientation and joint kinematics.
- Design and implement calibration systems to ensure consistent and repeatable outputs across users and sessions.
- Build and refine motion models for human body kinematics, including joint relationships, constraints, and complex regions such as the shoulder.
- Develop core movement outputs, including joint and segment relationships, asymmetry and imbalance detection, and baseline modeling and deviation tracking
- Work with real sensor data to improve robustness, including handling drift and nois, compensating for sensor placement variability, and detecting unreliable or low-confidence signals
- Collaborate closely with hardware and systems teams to ensure clean integration between sensor data, processing pipelines, and application layers.
- Define validation approaches and confidence metrics to ensure motion outputs are accurate and reliable.

- Strong foundation in biomechanics, kinematics, robotics, or motion tracking systems.
- Experience working with IMU data, sensor fusion, or real motion systems.
- Comfortable working with quaternions, coordinate systems, and transformations.
- Experience building or implementing real-time or near real-time systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills in noisy, real-world environments.
- Experience with Python, C++, or similar for algorithm development.
- Ability to translate physical movement into computational models.
Bonus points if you have
- Background in biomechanics, kinesiology, or human movement science.
- Experience with motion capture systems (optical or IMU-based).
- Experience with robotics, state estimation, or tracking systems.
- Understanding of sports performance, rehab, or injury tracking.
Browse our curated collection of remote jobs across all categories and industries, featuring positions from top companies worldwide.
What we offer
- Fully remote & flexible work environment.
- Direct ownership of the core motion intelligence system.
- Opportunity to work on a technically challenging real-world problem.
- Small team, high ownership, no micromanagement.
- Long-term growth opportunity as the system scales.
Additional Notes
We care more about your ability to solve motion and kinematics problems than your formal background. If you’ve built or worked on real motion systems, we want to see them.
