About The Role

Blacksmith is seeking an experienced SEO Specialist to take the lead in developing and executing comprehensive organic search strategies for multiple client accounts as well as Blacksmith’s own digital presence. This role is pivotal in driving organic traffic growth, enhancing search engine rankings, and translating complex performance data into actionable insights. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and strategists to ensure SEO best practices are seamlessly integrated into all phases of website development and content creation. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work across diverse industries and site types, influencing SEO processes and best practices within a dynamic, results-oriented environment. The SEO Specialist will be instrumental in optimizing website performance, conducting audits, and managing ongoing SEO initiatives to maximize visibility and engagement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on SEO experience, preferably within an agency environment managing multiple clients
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable growth through SEO strategies supported by first-party data such as traffic, rankings, and leads
  • Strong expertise in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Search Console, including report setup and data interpretation
  • Experience managing SEO across various industries with direct implementation of metadata, schema markup, redirects, and internal linking
  • Proficiency in conducting keyword research and mapping SEO strategies to business objectives like traffic and lead generation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers to resolve technical issues such as indexing, redirects, and page speed optimization
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to handle multiple client projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical insights into clear, non-technical language for clients and team members
  • Familiarity with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and other relevant platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies for multiple clients, covering technical, on-page, and off-page efforts
  • Conduct detailed SEO audits, competitive analyses, and keyword opportunity mapping to identify growth areas
  • Collaborate with designers and developers during website strategy and build phases to ensure SEO best practices are implemented effectively
  • Create structured content strategies and recommendations that support user experience and conversion goals
  • Manage local SEO initiatives for clients with physical locations, optimizing for local search visibility
  • Monitor and analyze website performance metrics such as rankings, crawl health, Core Web Vitals, and conversions using tools like Ahrefs, GA4, and Search Console
  • Present findings and strategic recommendations clearly to clients, supported by data and insights
  • Perform technical SEO audits using tools like Screaming Frog and SEMrush, summarizing issues and prioritizing action steps
  • Implement on-page SEO updates within CMS platforms, primarily WordPress, including meta tags, headers, alt text, internal linking, and schema markup
  • Conduct keyword research to identify primary and secondary targets for core pages, blog content, and campaigns
  • Create SEO briefs and outlines to guide content creation, ensuring alignment with keyword strategies and SEO best practices
  • Review and optimize draft content for SEO performance, readability, and engagement before publication
  • Coordinate with developers during website launches to ensure SEO requirements such as crawlability, redirects, and URL structures are met
  • Set up and configure SEO tools for new websites, including Google Search Console, GA4, and tracking parameters
  • Generate comprehensive monthly reports for clients, highlighting wins, identifying issues, and recommending next steps
  • Research backlink opportunities through competitor analysis and digital PR efforts, supporting outreach and link-building initiatives
  • Stay updated on Google algorithm updates and evaluate their impact on client sites, adjusting strategies accordingly
  • Participate in client meetings to communicate SEO performance and strategies in an understandable manner
  • Identify technical blockers or content gaps and collaborate with project teams to resolve them efficiently
