Senior Scala Developer

We’re looking for a Senior Scala Developer with strong backend expertise and a passion for building scalable, high-impact systems to join our clients growing team in Dublin. You’ll work on industry-leading platforms, designing and delivering robust solutions that power modern digital experiences.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to shape enterprise technology through technical leadership and innovation.

The Job

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
• Ensure software quality through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
• Write and review technical documentation (designs, RFCs, RCAs)
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong, inclusive engineering culture

Experience Needed

• 7+ years’ experience in backend or platform engineering
• Strong Scala expertise (essential), with Java and AWS experience
• Proven track record delivering scalable, low-latency systems
• Experience owning architecture and influencing technical direction
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and modern backend design
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor others

Nice to Have

• Experience with Go or Python
• Strong AWS knowledge, including cost optimisation
• Contributions to engineering culture, hiring, or organisational growth

Remote in Ireland – with one day a month on site in Dublin. Candidate must be based in Ireland. Permanent role.
