About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced DevOps / AWS / Python Engineer to join our team in multiple locations within Maryland, Missouri, and Virginia. This is a direct placement opportunity with paid relocation assistance, offering a competitive annual salary of up to $180,000. The primary purpose of this role is to support the development, integration, deployment, and maintenance of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automation, containerization, cloud services, and scripting, contributing to the efficiency and security of our operational environment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive, self-starting attitude with excellent communication skills. They should have 2-3 years of recent experience working with Kubernetes infrastructure, preferably with OpenShift or EKS, and similar experience with Docker containers. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Microsoft PowerShell and Python is essential, along with hands-on experience managing both Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. Candidates must have a solid understanding of custom code development and review processes, as well as experience with GITLAB functionality, error codes, and scripting. Familiarity with AWS services such as CloudFormation, S3, ECS, and AWS Serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, load balancing, autoscaling) is required. Additionally, candidates should have experience supporting development testing, cloud-based architectures, and DevSecOps workflows.

Candidates must hold a CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification. An active Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI post-hire is mandatory. Typically, a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with two years of relevant experience, is required. Preferred qualifications include experience with GitLab CI/CD, AWS Lambda and ECS, troubleshooting and deploying Docker containers, AWS certifications (such as DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect), Linux certifications, and familiarity with geospatial technologies like ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for automating manual processes using Python and PowerShell, supporting deployment pipelines within a Windows and Linux multi-tenant environment, and maintaining the health of microservices deployed via DevSecOps pipelines. This includes developing, updating, and troubleshooting GitLab CI/CD pipelines, configuring and deploying Docker containers, and reviewing code within Git repositories. The role involves supporting developer deployments, providing technical guidance on capabilities and microservices, and assisting with developer testing in various environments. The engineer will also create and maintain comprehensive DevOps documentation, support security remediation efforts based on scan results, and ensure the operational integrity of cloud-based architectures. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to security protocols are critical aspects of this role.
