Senior System Administrator & IT Support

This is a long-term core-team position with strategic impact — not a project-based role.

Your Role

As a Senior / Lead System Administrator & IT Support Lead, you will take ownership of the internal IT landscape and play a key role in structuring, optimizing, and scaling IT operations.

You will not only ensure smooth day-to-day operations, but also actively shape internal processes, define standards, and guide teams in a dynamic and highly technical R&D environment.

Your Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain the internal IT environment (office network, on-site infrastructure, cloud – Azure-focused, AWS a plus)
  • Manage and optimize network infrastructure, devices, and hardware (e.g. network equipment, laptops, GPU workstations)
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve IT support processes and workflows
  • Drive process maturity (ticket prioritization, root-cause analysis, escalation paths, tooling via Jira Service Desk & Slack)
  • Act as a technical lead and point of orientation for internal teams
  • Identify inefficiencies and introduce scalable structures and best practices
  • Support engineering and R&D teams in deploying and operating systems on modern cloud infrastructure(Azure, AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, basic container usage)
  • Contribute to and collaborate with R&D projects, expanding your scope beyond traditional IT operations
  • Take ownership of IT security standards and compliance (ISO, SLA frameworks, TISAX awareness)
Your Profile

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in System Administration, IT Support Engineering, or similar roles
  • Proven experience in structuring, improving, or owning IT environments and processes
  • Strong operational IT background (not DevOps-only)
  • Hands-on expertise in Linux, networking, on-prem infrastructure, Azure, automation & monitoring
  • Experience with support processes, ticketing systems, and service workflows
  • Ability to define priorities, guide teams, and take ownership of technical direction
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English skills (spoken & written) – mandatory


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with container technologies, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Background in information security and compliance frameworks (ISO / TISAX)
  • German language skills
