About The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Web & Visual Designer to join our team as a leader and hands-on contributor. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of design projects across multiple brands. You will lead a team of talented designers, setting standards and processes that promote excellence while actively participating in design work when necessary. Your leadership will be pivotal in maintaining Deer Designer’s reputation for reliability and high-caliber output. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional design experience, with 1-3+ years in a leadership or senior role within an agency, subscription service, or in-house team.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and Canva.
  • Strong command of English, both spoken and written, to facilitate clear communication with clients and team members.
  • Exceptional art direction skills, including typography, composition, and brand judgment.
  • Experience in providing constructive, specific, and actionable feedback to designers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Calm, organized, and solutions-oriented approach to handling workload and team dynamics.

Nice-to-have qualifications include experience in high-volume studios or design subscriptions, motion/video direction skills, familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Jira, and experience in building scalable design systems or brand kits.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex or unclear briefs into clear, actionable directions for designers, fostering efficiency and clarity.
  • Develop reusable systems such as templates, component libraries, brand kits, and best-practice examples to streamline workflows.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of work prior to client delivery, catching both obvious errors and subtle quality issues.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to designers, supporting their professional growth and improving overall team quality.
  • Manage incoming project requests by triaging based on complexity, urgency, dependencies, and risk factors.
  • Assign tasks to team members based on their skills, bandwidth, and project needs, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Unblock work promptly by resolving issues such as missing assets, scope ambiguities, or conflicting feedback.
  • Communicate proactively about potential risks or delays, and propose effective solutions such as scope adjustments or phased delivery plans.
  • Participate in key client meetings, including onboarding, brand alignment sessions, escalations, and quarterly reviews, ensuring client confidence and satisfaction.
  • Identify systemic gaps in branding, guidelines, or recurring requests, and implement improvements to prevent future issues.
  • Lead weekly team syncs to review progress, celebrate wins, address blockers, and set priorities.
  • Design and implement skill development plans, conduct one-on-one coaching, and organize targeted training sessions to foster team growth.
  • Continuously improve workflows, briefing processes, and quality assurance protocols to enhance efficiency and output quality.
