Job Description

Senior System Administrator

Join one of the strongest IT teams in Quebec

You’re a real tech enthusiast.

You want to work with people as sharp as you are.

You want full flexibility to work from home.

You want to take other sysadmins under your wing and help them grow.

You want to make the biggest leap of your career.

Read on.

A Quebec success story

S3 is one of Quebec’s IT growth stories. 20+ years in Montreal. A team of 100. A portfolio of serious Quebec SMBs that have stayed with us for 10, 15, 20 years.

Recognized by our peers as one of the most technically solid MSPs in Quebec.

We didn’t grow through aggressive sales. We grew because we deliver. And our clients talk.

That’s the environment you’ll be working in.

The team you’re joining

A team of technical experts. Dedicated. Close to our clients. Tight with each other.

We push each other to learn. We trade what we know. We even hang out.

When somebody hits a complex challenge, we put our minds together. You’re surrounded by smart people. That’s what makes you grow.

Working side by side with people who are better than you on some things, and where you’re better than them on others.

This is the place where you make a massive leap in your technical knowledge.

A culture that puts the right things first

Two priorities at S3:

  • Our clients’ satisfaction. They’re the ones who let us build this company. They come first, always.
  • Our team’s well-being. Because without a strong, engaged team, we can’t deliver.

The founders are still here. Involved daily. Managers are super approachable. When you have an idea to make things better, you’re 100% heard.

What you actually do

You take ownership of client environments. You drive the evolution of Quebec SMB infrastructure: reliability, continuous optimization, security, documentation. You communicate directly with clients to keep what you’re building aligned with what they actually need.

You work shoulder-to-shoulder with co-managed client IT teams. Many of our clients have their own internal IT staff. You’re the technical counterpart on the other side — having real, detailed technical conversations, trading knowledge, solving problems together. Over time, you become the person they call when it counts. That’s why our clients stay with us for decades.

You step in where it matters. Critical incidents, complex problems, architecture challenges. You prioritize based on real client impact, not noise. There’s an on-call rotation, but our team in the Philippines absorbs most of the off-hours volume.

You take other sysadmins under your wing. You make sure they evolve. You teach them what you’ve learned. You contribute to our technical standards. A big part of this senior role is coaching the next generation of S3 talent.

We’re looking for someone who…

  • Has 7+ years as a system administrator
  • Has solid command of Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 / Exchange
  • Knows networking (LAN/WAN, firewall, Wi-Fi), virtualization, and cloud
  • Has worked with Cisco, Dell, Fortinet
  • Communicates well in French and English
  • Is curious, proactive, solution-oriented
  • Has a DEC or AEC in IT (or equivalent)

Bonus: MSP experience, PowerShell, Microsoft, Azure, or Fortinet certifications.

What you get

  • Competitive salary, based on your experience
  • 100% remote, hybrid, office (whatever is best for you), with client visits 1 to 2 times per month
  • Full group insurance and telemedicine
  • 5 days PTO, paid out if unused
  • Computer equipment allowance
  • Monthly cell phone allowance
  • Annual retreat with the team and your family
  • Downtown office (Place des Festivals) with gym, showers, and social events
  • Quarterly team events

What your first year looks like

After 6 months. You’re managing your client environments autonomously. You know the quirks of each one. Their IT teams trust you.

After 12 months. You’ve taken sysadmins under your wing. You’ve implemented major optimizations that make a visible difference. You’re a recognized technical pillar on the team.
