JOB DESCRIPTION

Catamaran is looking for a detail-obsessed freelancer who genuinely loves the detail work others overlook — tracking, coding, analyzing, and interpreting media coverage. If you're the kind of person who finds satisfaction in a perfectly maintained spreadsheet, we want to hear from you. This is a hands-on, data-entry-forward role. No account management, no client calls — just you, your systems, measurement tools, and a steady stream of coverage to catalog and measure.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

Freelance/contract work; Approx. 20 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor daily media coverage across print, digital, broadcast, and social channels for client accounts
• Log and categorize placements in our tracking tools with accuracy and consistency
• Maintain and update coverage dashboards
• Help calculate earned media metrics (reach, impressions, share of voice, etc.)
• Assist with compiling weekly, monthly, and quarterly coverage reports for client accounts
• Flag notable coverage and surface trends to the account team
• Assist with building and refining measurement frameworks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Genuine enthusiasm for data tracking and media monitoring

• Strong attention to detail; accuracy is paramount
• Hands-on experience with MuckRack, Critical Mention, and/or Meltwater
• Comfort working in spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets) and reporting dashboards
• Familiarity with PR and earned media metrics
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and flag issues proactively
• Comfortable using AI-driven tools and platforms to support coverage reporting and optimization
• Curiosity to continuously test and adopt new technologies.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in PR measurement, media monitoring, or digital analytics, preferably within a PR agency or in-house communications environment.

LOCATION 

This is a fully remote position; Flexible hours with consistent weekly availability required.

COMPENSATION

$50-$75/hour, commensurate with experience.
