About The Role

Deepgram is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner for a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave for approximately four months. This role is integral to maintaining continuity in employee relations, performance management, manager effectiveness, and overall people practices during this period. Reporting directly to the Head of People, the HRBP will work collaboratively across various departments including People Operations, Legal, Finance, and Recruiting to ensure that HR programs, policies, and processes remain effective, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate will be someone who can quickly onboard, adapt to the company’s fast-paced environment, and provide high-quality HR support with minimal ramp-up time. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, innovative organization while gaining valuable experience in a high-growth tech environment. Occasional travel may be required to attend company offsites or team meetings as needed during the contract duration.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess 7 to 10+ years of HR experience, including at least 5 years in an HR Business Partner role within high-growth or complex organizations. Strong business judgment is essential, with the ability to quickly understand organizational context, challenge assumptions, and guide leaders through difficult decisions. Deep expertise in employee relations, performance management, and coaching managers is required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to ramp up rapidly in new environments and deliver results with limited onboarding. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high discretion, and the ability to operate effectively in a remote-first, fast-changing environment are critical. Experience supporting distributed, remote teams or working in a tech startup environment is a plus. Familiarity with employment laws across different jurisdictions and immigration processes is also desirable.

Responsibilities

As a Senior HR Business Partner, your responsibilities will include serving as the primary contact for employee relations issues, coaching managers through complex conversations, and providing guidance on performance and employee lifecycle matters. You will act as a trusted advisor to leaders, helping them navigate organizational changes, manage risks, and implement people strategies aligned with business goals. Supporting performance management processes, goal-setting, and manager development will be key to fostering a high-performance culture. You will maintain and improve existing HR systems, templates, and documentation, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance as the company scales. Partnering with People Operations, Legal, and Finance, you will ensure adherence to employment laws and support leave administration, complex employee situations, and immigration processes. Additionally, you will manage relationships with external immigration law firms, assist employees through visa processes, and ensure sponsorship decisions are compliant and aligned with company policies. You will also support change initiatives, including policy updates and process improvements, and help educate leaders on new programs and practices.

Benefits

Deepgram offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and development of its employees. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with an annual wellness stipend and mental health support. Employees are eligible for life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance plans. The organization promotes work/life balance through unlimited paid time off, parental leave, flexible schedules, and 12 paid US holidays. Additional perks include quarterly personal productivity stipends, home office upgrade stipends, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and tax savings programs. Deepgram encourages continuous learning with education stipends, opportunities to participate in industry talks and conferences, employee resource groups, and AI enablement workshops. The company values holistic well-being and professional growth, ensuring employees have resources and support to thrive both personally and professionally.

Equal Opportunity

Deepgram is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all voices and perspectives are valued. The organization does not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, pregnancy, parental status, genetic information, political affiliation, or any other legally protected status. Deepgram is dedicated to providing accommodations for applicants who need them and ensuring a fair and equitable hiring process for all candidates. The company believes that diversity and inclusion are vital to its success and actively seeks to build a workforce that reflects the diverse communities it serves.
