Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI based in Canada.
This role sits at the intersection of applied AI engineering, product thinking, and systems design, focused on turning fragmented business knowledge into structured, executable intelligence. You will build production-grade AI agents and modular skill-based systems that allow non-technical teams to automate and compose complex workflows across sales, marketing, and operations. The environment is highly autonomous and fast-moving, with a strong emphasis on shipping real systems rather than prototypes. You’ll design AI components that integrate with core internal tools and data sources, enabling workflows that are reusable, extensible, and scalable. A key part of your work will be making AI capabilities accessible to everyone in the organization, not just engineers. You will also help define the internal AI development environment, shaping how teams build with modern LLM tools. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences how an entire organization operationalizes AI.
Accountabilities
- Design and build production-grade AI agents that automate workflows across sales, marketing, and operations, including research, enrichment, and decision support tasks.
- Develop modular “AI skills” that connect to internal systems (e.g., CRM, document stores, communication tools), enabling composable and reusable workflow building blocks.
- Architect systems for composability, ensuring outputs from one AI component can reliably feed into others to create scalable end-to-end workflows.
- Own and evolve the internal AI development environment, including tooling, templates, and best practices for building with LLMs and agent frameworks.
- Enable non-technical teams to build and adapt AI-driven workflows by creating intuitive abstractions, documentation, and reusable primitives.
- Integrate AI systems with production data sources and business tools, ensuring reliability, observability, and maintainability at scale.
- Continuously iterate on agent performance, prompt design, and system behavior based on real-world usage and edge cases.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong exposure to backend systems, automation, or applied AI development.
- Hands-on experience building production AI systems or agents using LLM APIs, with familiarity in prompt engineering, context management, and structured outputs.
- Strong programming skills in modern languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or similar) and experience working with APIs and distributed systems.
- Proven ability to design user-facing internal tools that are adopted by non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong product instincts with a focus on usability, simplicity, and real-world impact.
- Experience working with workflow automation tools or integrating multiple SaaS systems (e.g., CRM, Slack, Google Workspace).
- Ability to operate in ambiguity, move quickly, and iterate based on feedback in a startup-like environment.
- Strong systems thinking with an emphasis on modular, composable architecture design.
