Job Description

Technical Product Manager (TPM)

Overview

A fast-growing, venture-backed startup is seeking a highly technical and execution-oriented Technical Product Manager (TPM) to help build and scale products used by hundreds of paying customers. This is an opportunity to own products from concept through launch and revenue generation, working directly with customers, engineers, and go-to-market teams to solve complex operational challenges.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced startup environments, enjoys diving into technical systems and customer workflows, and has a strong bias toward building and shipping. This role is based in San Francisco and works closely with company leadership to define product strategy, prioritize opportunities, and drive execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle from idea, validation, MVP development, launch, adoption, and revenue growth.
  • Define product direction by synthesizing feedback from customers, sales teams, product analysts, and market insights.
  • Build and manage product roadmaps, balancing short-term execution with long-term platform strategy.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product analysts, and customer-facing teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Conduct customer discovery, workflow analysis, product demos, onboarding sessions, and feedback interviews.
  • Translate customer pain points into product requirements and scalable solutions.
  • Drive product launches, customer rollouts, QA processes, and adoption initiatives.
  • Prioritize ruthlessly across competing opportunities and ensure resources are focused on the highest-impact work.
  • Think beyond individual features and help create products that strengthen the broader platform ecosystem.
  • Work cross-functionally to accelerate product development and revenue growth.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1.5-6 years of experience in a software company in a product, data analyst, technical, or related role.
  • Strong builder mentality with a passion for execution, problem-solving, and operating in complex systems.
  • Hands-on technical experience with APIs, SQL, databases, Postman, or similar tools.
  • Experience working directly with customers, including onboarding, demos, stakeholder management, or user interviews.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, from software engineers to executive leadership.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with significant ownership and ambiguity.
  • Willing to work onsite in San Francisco five days per week.

Preferred

  • Experience at an early-stage startup (Pre-Seed through Series C).
  • Experience with data-intensive, workflow-heavy, or operationally complex B2B SaaS products.
  • Prior founding PM, founding team, or startup builder experience.
  • Exposure to accounting workflows, financial operations, ERP systems, project management software, or construction technology.
  • Demonstrated success shipping products from concept to customer adoption.
  • Multi-year tenure in previous roles showing ownership and long-term impact.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive base salary: $130,000 - $200,000
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage with approximately 90% employer-paid premiums
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Relocation assistance for candidates moving to the Bay Area
  • Additional relocation incentive for living near the office
  • Daily meal benefits
  • Fully stocked office kitchen
  • On-site gym access
  • Commuter benefits
  • Opportunity to work directly with experienced startup leaders and high-growth teams
  • Significant ownership and career growth potential in a rapidly scaling company

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is best suited for a product-minded operator who has worked in an early-stage startup, enjoys being close to customers, and has enough technical depth to comfortably work with APIs, SQL, databases, and engineering teams. Successful candidates are builders who love execution, shipping products, and solving operational challenges rather than focusing solely on high-level strategy. Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, construction technology, project management software, or other complex workflow-driven products is especially valuable.
