Microsoft Exchange Online Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Your Profile & DNA:

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Exchange Online Engineer to join a team of approximately 40 professionals responsible for designing, migrating, and managing enterprise Microsoft Exchange environments. In this role, you will lead transition and transformation projects to Microsoft 365, focusing on Exchange Online migrations, hybrid environments, security configuration, and mailflow optimization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and support Exchange On-Prem to Exchange Online migrations and hybrid deployments.
• Design, configure, and optimize Exchange Online architectures.
• Manage and troubleshoot complex mailflow, routing, connectors, and transport rules.
• Implement and enhance email security using:

• Exchange Online Protection (EOP)
• Microsoft Defender for Office 365
• Configure and maintain DKIM, DMARC, SPF, and email authentication frameworks.
• Develop and manage DLP policies, encryption, labeling, and compliance controls.
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API.
• Support lifecycle management of shared mailboxes, M365 groups, and resources.
• Troubleshoot complex messaging and deliverability issues using trace and log analysis.
• Coach and support colleagues in Exchange Online best practices.

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.

Required Experience

• 4–6 years of experience with Microsoft Exchange Online.
• 4–6 years of experience with Microsoft Exchange Server (On-Premises).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Technical Skills

• Exchange Online migration and hybrid architecture experience.
• Expertise in mailflow, connectors, transport rules, and routing.
• Hands-on experience with: PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Graph API, Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Microsoft Defender for Office 365, DKIM, DMARC, SPF configuration
• Experience with SMTP relays, gateways, and third-party mail systems.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
