Summary: We are seeking a Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager to join our internal Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) team, which designs and builds battery recycling and battery materials manufacturing facilities. The QA/QC Manager will be embedded on the Engineering team and serve as the owner’s quality representative, ensuring that all construction—whether self-performed or executed by subcontractors—meets the intent of design drawings, project specifications, and applicable codes. This role spans the full project lifecycle, from design through construction completion and turnover, and is expected to engage proactively during design to identify quality requirements, constructability concerns, and inspection hold points before construction begins. The QA/QC Manager will also contract and coordinate third-party special inspections where required by code or contract. This role works closely with project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls, and procurement, and interfaces directly with construction managers, site superintendents, construction engineers, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the project QA/QC function, including direct oversight of internal inspectors, QC coordinators, and third-party inspection personnel; set priorities, review performance, and provide day-to-day technical direction.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications during the design phase to identify constructability concerns, inspection hold points, and quality requirements before construction begins; provide proactive QA/QC feedback to design engineers.
- Develop project-specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and coordinate scheduling of third-party special inspections (e.g., structural steel, welding, concrete, fireproofing) to ensure inspection resources are in place ahead of construction activities.
- Contract and manage relationships with third-party special inspection agencies; ensure their scopes, qualifications, and schedules align with project needs.
- Perform daily site walks to identify risks, discrepancies, and non-conformances; document findings, evaluations, and inspections using company-prescribed procedures and software.
- Perform system verifications on completed systems to confirm correct installation per design specifications and contract documents; assist with development and maintenance of quality protocols, qualification requirements, and validation procedures and documentation.
- Audit contractor and self-perform quality turnover documentation, including MTRs, weld maps, weld logs, PWHT reports, NDT reports, concrete placement records, bolt tensioning records, and other civil/structural QC documentation.
- Track and report on quality metrics, non-conformance trends, and inspection status to project leadership; support resolution of day-to-day quality issues in the field.
