Our client, a leading technology group, is seeking an experienced professional to lead their Data Centre, Hosting & Managed Services division. This is a high-impact role responsible for ensuring the efficiency, security, and strategic growth of data centre operations while driving service excellence and business expansion.

The Head of Data Centre, Hosting & Managed Services will be responsible for overseeing the effectiveness and efficiency of multi-site data centre operations, power systems, and IT environments. This role requires a leader with deep technical expertise and a strong strategic mindset to manage operations, partnerships, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall management of data centres, ensuring high availability and efficiency across multiple sites
• Oversee infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, security, and compliance with industry standards
• Work closely with third-party providers and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery
• Implement best practices for commissioning, decommissioning, and operational management of hosting environments
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies and regulators
• Drive innovation and implement energy-efficient solutions, aligning with sustainability goals
• Manage budgets, including Opex and Capex, ensuring cost-effective operations and investment planning
• Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested regularly
• Develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive and growth-oriented culture

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience (15+ years) in telecoms, IT infrastructure, and data centre operations
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within data centres
• Knowledge of industry standards, including ISO 27001, 9001, 45001, and Tier 3 data centre requirements
• Experience working with BMS, networking (firewalls, switching, routing), and security systems
• ITIL framework knowledge and experience in service operations
• Uptime Institute Accredited Operations and Tier Specialist certifications (Essential)
• City & Guilds BS7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (Latest Edition)
• IOSH Managing Safely certification
• Desirable qualifications include PRINCE2, CISSP, CDCDP, and Site Reliability Engineering certifications
